FS: Late Model MHW Smoked Tail Lights (Not Reps)

MHW Smoked tail lights for late model coupe, sedan, and touring 1988 and newer and convertible 1991 and newer. These are the real deal era specific MHW tail lights and are not replicas or reproductions. I have personally owned this set for 15+ years.

These lights are not perfect. Each light has one hairline crack aka patina. The right tail light has it near the middle and the left tail light has it at the bottom left corner. They are not cracked through and do not leak water. The right tail light has had one upper mounting stud failure which has been repaired with high strength epoxy. The left tail light upper mounting studs have been reinforced with high strength epoxy as a precautionary measure.

If you want to buy reproductions or replicas, that's your prerogative. But having the real deal vintage parts is way cooler, and deep down you know it too.

Asking $1025 for R3V members only.

Thanks for looking!

Sincerely,
MR 325.

E30 seats are notorious for breaking the bracket that mounts the seat back to the hinge. The factory piece is thin stamped steel with a welded-on nut, and it has two failure points — the 90 degree bend and the welded nut itself. Welding a broken one back together works for a while, but it often re-fails slightly up or downstream of the welds.

These CNC machined billet brackets solve the problem for good. The thread is machined directly into solid billet, so there is no welded nut to crack off and no thin bend to fatigue.

The bracket is completely weldless and mounts through the two existing holes in the hinge — just remove the head of the single factory rivet, push the rivet out, and bolt the new bracket on with the included hardware. No welding, no drilling (other then removing rivet head which can be drilled, chiseled, dremeled, or die grinded).

Fits Sport and Comfort seats from both 2 door and 4 door cars. Each seat uses two brackets, one per hinge — so order a single bracket if only one side is broken, a set of 2 for one seat, or a set of 4 to do both front seats.

Included: CNC billet bracket(s) with mounting hardware.

Hi everyone,

It’s been quite a few years since I’ve posted here. Some of you may remember the build thread for my E30 project. Life got busy, the project kept evolving, and what I originally thought would be an M62swap ended up being a Tesla EV swap and a five-year obsession.

The car is finally finished, sorted, and currently being auctioned on Bring a Trailer, so I thought I’d come back and share it with the community that followed it in the early days.

The finished car uses a Tesla Model S Large Drive Unit with Plaid internals, an EV West conversion system, 13 LG Chem JP3 battery modules, EV Controls T-2C controller, Dilithium BMS, dual onboard chargers, NACS charging, custom battery enclosures, and a completely redesigned electrical system.

Whether EV conversions are your thing or not, I think many of you will appreciate the engineering, fabrication, and attention to detail that went into the build. I’d genuinely enjoy hearing what fellow E30 enthusiasts think.

The auction still has a few days remaining if anyone would like to take a look:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1986-bmw-325e-57/

And if anyone has questions about the build—good, bad, or technical—I’d be happy to answer them!

It’s good to be back. Sorry I’ve been so quiet.

Bought the car in 2019 from California. The owner had bought the car directly from CATuned. I actually sold the motor and trans back to Igor during the swap. I have tons of before and after pictures, but figured I would just place a few here. If anyone is seriously interested, I have a link to a Dropbox folder I can send with the remainder. Project took me about 2yrs to complete. Looking to move on to another project and wanted to give the E30 fans a shot prior to listing on BaT. The car is in NY (Long Island). Please let me know if you have any questions. Asking $40,000 obo.

Build summary includes:

Full tear down to shell and reassembled with new OEM/custom parts.
Car was fully repainted once stripped - paint is a 9 out of 10
Various parts were powder coated
A lot of the OEM parts are NLA and had to be sourced over time; including:

All new moldings
All new windows including rear pop-outs
All new seals including doors, windows, hood, trunk etc.
All new clips/fasteners
All new “euro” bumpers
Authentic full Mtech 1 body kit
Carbon fiber hood, splitter and sunroof delete
New headlights, fog lights, tail lights, turn signals
New front grills
New carpet (main cabin and trunk)
New custom seats (front and back)
New custom door cards
Re-wrapped steering wheel, center console etc.
New custom headliner

Entire interior of shell was insulated with dynomat
Reinforced shock mounts, subframe and rear end
Replaced all bushings
Wilwood front brake kit. Rear brakes converted to disks
Wilwood pedal set
Tilton brake/clutch reservoir
All new brake/clutch lines
Front and rear sway bars
Full custom set of Ground Control coilovers
Full engine (1JZ VVTI) and transmission (R154) swap

Pulled original engine and transmission
New engine was compression checked, tore down, re-assembled/re-sealed
Transmission was reinforced
Custom turbo manifold – ceramic coated
New Garrett BB turbo
New Tial wastegate and BOV
New FPR
All custom intercooler lines, radiator lines etc

New motor mounts, drive shaft etc
New radiator
New power steering reservoir, lines

All new wiring harness
Running an AEM Infiniti 506 with custom tune
AEM dash
New stereo system including

New head
All new wiring
New amp
New speakers
Custom enclosure in trunk

New wheels
Car is currently running in E85 but has a flex fuel sensor and can accept 93 or a blend.

Known issues:

- car is retrofitted with AC; however, I was never able to get is successfully charged.

Cruise control: worked when I pulled it off my car during an engine swap. $60
From my 1987 325is

Si board: honestly, unknown condition, I'm pretty sure it's fine, because I think I used it to test the condition of my gauges, but the board had no effect (the gauge was the problem). I would recommend changing the batteries though. Might as well since it's out.
$80

Pickup preferred around southern California, I'm in Riverside. Can ship at buyer's expense.

1986 BMW 325 E30 4-Door Sedan – 38-Year Ownership – Clean California Title/Smog – $3,200 OBO

Selling my 1986 BMW 325 E30 sedan after 38 years of continuous ownership. It's becoming increasingly difficult to find an E30 with this kind of long-term ownership history.

Details:

38 years of continuous ownership
Clean California title in my name
Registered and currently licensed in California
Located in North Orange County, CA
Recent California smog certificate
Odometer stopped at 90k. Estimated actual miles ~150k. Parked for periods between 1993-2016, but maintained with regular oil changes.
Driven locally on a weekly basis in California from 2016 until a few weeks ago.
Timing belt replaced 2021. Manual transmission 5 speed.
I recently purchased a new car and no longer have the garage space or time to continue working on or storing this one.

Known Issues:

Intermittent starting issue (starts right up some days, takes effort on others).
Transmission needs work (no 4th gear).
Needs cosmetic restoration: Surface rust present, including a small spot near the trunk edge and light surface rust on the rear door sills.

Price: $3,200 or best reasonable offer. Cash only. Serious inquiries only.

Brand new Ireland Engineering (IE) Section 2 exhaust piping for a BMW E30. Still sealed in original packaging, never installed. This is the mid-pipe section (not the muffler) — bought as part of an IE exhaust setup, project direction changed before it ever went on the car.

$80 — local Bay Area pickup preferred given the length/shape of the piece, but open to discussing shipping if you're willing to cover the box/freight cost.
