Hi I want to create an account on e30zone but it is disallowed due to bot attacks I guess. I am trying to get in contact with either a moderator there that can help me make an account, or with a specific member that sells chips.

Can anyone be a middle man to help me achieve one of these? It must have been bad for them to stop registering new members.
TIA

Tail light and dash light problems

I have been trying to trouble shoot some electrical problems but I cant figure out what is wrong. The car is a 1983 e30 coupe. I have not installed any front headlights yet, but something is going on in the rear.

When the light switch is in position 0, fully pressed in, no lights are on. This I understand is correct.
When the light switch is in position 1, parking mode, left and right taillights come on, the dashlight/cluster illumination comes on and can be dimmed.
When the light switch is in position 2, ON position, only my left tail light works and the dashlight turns off.

What could be going on here? Do I have a short somewhere? I dont get 12V out from the switch to my left tail light in position 2 (pin 1 of the light switch connector) I have tried another light switch with the same outcome.

Brake lights and number plate illumination works as it should btw.

Hello!

What would be the cause of 3x warnings on start up? ABS/Brake fluid/battery

Only on idle. If i rev it up once it goes away for the rest of the ride.

Any ideas?

Blew new fuel hose...cheap hose or something else?

Hi all,

So I just rebuilt my M20 and have had it running for a couple of weeks. Been taking it out for short test rides around the neighborhood, mainly been focused on getting the air out of my coolant lines. I've brought it up to temp idling about 10-20 times, and have taken it out numerous times, probably like in total 5-10 miles.

Anyway on my drive yesterday, about a mile away from my house I started to smell a strong fuel smell so I pulled over immediately and popped the hood and saw that my supply fuel line into the rail split. 😳 Luckily I caught it as soon as it happened, that could have ended very badly. I had it towed back to my house.

The fuel hose I used was stupidly bought on amazon (https://a.co/d/0790EEUg) so I'm chalking the fuel hose split to just buying a crappy hose and bad luck (maybe I nicked it when I was adjusting the intake manifold)....but I wanted to double check with all you experts here.

Is there something else that I should be looking at that could have caused that or likely it was just the crappy hose and I should be good to go after replacing with a quality hose? I don't want to buy new hoses to have this happen again because of something obvious that I missed. The fuel pressure reg is new.

I'm going to buy the Gates brand 5/16" ID fuel hose at Autozone/Oreillys unless you all have a suggestion on specific fuel hose brand I should get?

Thank you all!!

I know the crinkle-black with the polished vanes is the go-to but wondering what other options are out there.

hey there, i know this is a long shot, but did you ever adapt that S54 airbox to your RHD ITB's? i have the same setup on my M20 and just bought an S54 airbox for $50. I'd like to explore this option for the same reasons as you: it looks way better and is so much cheaper.

thanks!

Weird injection issue - ideas ?

Hey guys, just replaced my injectors and the car doesn't want to start now. I checked everything I could think of, checked for short to ground, checked for proper 12V to the injector rail + prongs. Manually primed the fuel rail with the fuel pump relay and there's plenty of fuel, but no injection...

The ground signal is supposed to be pulsed by the ECU to engage the injectors on/off and for now I don't think it sends that signal, or there's a cut wire somewhere. I hooked up my test light to both + and ground on the fuel rail, tried cranking, and the light didn't flash. If I ground my test light to the engine ground, it lights up fine.

I only touched the fuel rail and moved the 2 harness connected to it during the install, so my main suspect are these two plugs. AI suggested I check the continuity between the 3 prong plug (green circle) that connects about 1/3 down the bottom of the fuel rail, and the + and - prongs on the injector connectors. I found none. What is the role of this 3 wire plug (green). Is the signal for the injectors coming only from the harness that enter the forward end of the rail at the front of the engine?

I applied 12.5V to the injectors and got firm "clicks" on all of them, which tells me they're not stuck closed. I also used brake cleaner in the intake and the car starts up and run on it, which proves that everything other than fuel delivery is working fine.

Ideas?

There is a Chinese factory that makes entire bodies for popular classic cars like the AE86.
Apparently, their body parts are less rust-prone compared to original ones.

Will it make parts for German cars too?

Hi,
I came across your posts about the M42 and decided to get in touch because I'm currently working on my own M42 project and I'm a bit stuck.

I recently bought an MS3 ECU for my car and, after a lot of work, I managed to get the engine running. I've also converted it to coil-on-plug ignition and rewired the injectors individually. The engine starts and runs, but I'm still struggling with the tuning side of things.

Since your M42 setup seems very similar to mine, I was wondering if you might be willing to help me. I don't yet have enough experience to properly tune all the fuel and ignition tables, enrichments, corrections, and the many other settings needed to make the engine run as well as it should.

If possible, would you be able to share the tune or configuration file you're using on your M42? I wouldn't simply copy it directly, but it would be incredibly helpful as a reference and learning tool to better understand how a properly sorted M42 setup is configured.

Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated. I've learned a lot during this project, but I still have a long way to go when it comes to tuning.

Thank you very much for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.

 Best regards.

Hello, I'm having a hard time finding 14" tires for my '91 318is. Has anyone ever replaced 195/65/14 tires with either 185/70/14 tires, which are a slightly narrower but taller option, or 205/60/14 tires, which are a wider but shorter option?

Unsure if this is already a topic but everyone here needs a parts E30 for their project E30, It's apart of the E30 Ownership and I have already made a checklist of all the parts that my 318i needs, However it goes without saying that it's been difficult to find a parts car these days that doesn't cost 4,000 up here in new england but it's not all doom and gloom, I know people have gotten lucky beforehand and so with this.

Let's talk about your stories:

What have you found recently that you bought and parted out? It can be an E30, W124 Mercedes, 1965 Chevrolet Malibu or any car for that matter, Share your stories of what random crap you found in a parts car or that desirable part that you've been after? I'd like to hear it all! Include pictures of the horrors that your parts car came with if you have them.
