I’ve decided to sell my coupe, which unfortunately was hit about two months ago. Below, I've listed the good and the bad.
The basics:
- ’89 325i coupe, bronzit, automatic. Mileage on chassis is around 330k.
The good:
- I’ve owned and loved this car for 16 yrs. I bought it from my best friend in 2008; his parents bought it for him ca. 1996.
- Adult-owned daily driver that I slowly fixed up over time
- I have service records going back to the late 1990s — all from the same shop
- 14” BBS/basket weaves w/ center caps, with 205/60/r14 ‘Joyroad’ tires with pretty good tread life remaining
- Transmission rebuilt in 2012, about 85k miles ago. Regular service performed at recommended 30k mile intervals
- Driveshaft replaced with one utilizing regreasible, replaceable u-joints from Driveline Service in Portland, OR
- New oem oil pan, oil pump and drive gear, as well as all bottom-end bearings replaced at around 240k miles.
- No leaks
- Recent service items:
- new oem BMW/Bosch fuel injectors installed last year; intake removed and cleaned
- 4.10 LSD installed last year, with verified 89k miles
- New oem coolant reservoir installed last year
- new oem front wheel bearings installed in the last year or so
- Replacement color-correct body panels will be included in sale (right side door, right side fender)
- Very good condition original leatherette interior
- Except for damaged area, body is also in very good shape overall. I did a full paint correction about 13 years ago, and have maintained the paint since then. Mostly paint still shows very well.
- Car is drivable, despite damage
- I've removed a few parts: an NOS sunroof crank that I had recently installed, the front and rear spoilers, the euro license plate filler panel, and the NOS left side rear bumper trim. I will include the rear spoiler and bumper trim if buyer wishes. I may consider including the NOS sunroof crank. The rear spoiler was affixed with epoxy. I removed the studs because I didn't want to drill holes in the trunk.
The Bad:
- Car will come with a salvage title
- Engine runs well, but uses a lot of oil and needs a rebuild.
- Transmission works fine, but transmission valve body is old and a bit dirty: this means that sometimes you might notice a slight " twitch/nudge" when sitting at idle. Performance is not affected.
- Left/driver side seat is cosmetically excellent, but occasionally the seat back slips. It should be repaired internally to ensure perfect performance.
