LOCATION: Salt Lake City, Utah
Selling my 1988 BMW 325iX, a rare all-wheel-drive version of the legendary E30 chassis. The iX was built in limited numbers, and clean examples like this are getting harder to find. Values continue to climb as these cars become more collectible, especially in well-preserved condition like this one.
-This car has always been garage-kept, and it shows — the silver paint still shines, and there’s hardly any rust to speak of. It starts right up every time with no hesitation. All lights, buttons, and windows work, and the A/C even blows cold — a rare bonus in older BMWs.
-The car has been regularly serviced and maintained, with a strong engine that’s been recently checked over by a mechanic. It drives very smoothly at both city and highway speeds (hit 110 mph and it still felt smooth) . The interior features comfortable power front seats from a BMW E46 (a great upgrade), while the original rear seat remains in perfect condition.
-Recent Maintenance:
• New valve cover gasket
• New transfer case – AWD system
• New air mass intake
functions perfectly
• Front & rear differential service
• Valve lash adjustment
• All fluids replaced (engine oil, coolant, transfer case)
-Known Issues (Transparency First):
• Idle bounces briefly when taken out of gear, then settles – likely a bad temp sensor
• bogging after running for a while– likely due to bad fuel filter and or fuel pump. One the of the pumps runs loud. Pretty sure this is due to a clogged fuel filter and or a bad fuel pump so the other fuel pump is running harder.
• Check engine light on (likely related to temp sensor)
• Sunroof motor clicks but doesn’t open – fully sealed though
• bondo spot near rear gas tank (done by previous owner)
• Brakes still work but may need replacing soon
Most of these issues should be easy fixes
-Why I’m Selling:
I picked up this car out of love for the E30 platform and had plans to take it even further. But I’m moving out of my parents’ place and starting school soon, and I just won’t have the time or budget to finish everything I wanted to do. As much as I’d love to keep it, I could use the money while in school and hope it goes to someone who will appreciate and enjoy it.
-This is a solid, mechanically sound example of a rare E30 model — a perfect driver, weekend car, or light project for someone who wants to enjoy a classic BMW with the hard parts already taken care of. The car is currently kept in holladay in garage under a cover as you can see in the last picture. I’ve taken great care of the car and have only driven it maybe 10 times in the 8 months of ownership. I’m on and off with selling the car because I do love it but can’t afford to do the things I want to it yet. So I’m open to any offers or trades but I’m not in a rush to sell at all
Clean title in hand.
Asking $12,000 OBO.
Completely Open to offers and trades
