With mixed emotions, I’ve decided to sell my 1989 BMW E30 S50-swapped track car.
I purchased the car in 2020 from a BMW CCA HPDE instructor in New Jersey. Since then, I’ve only taken it to the track four times, and over the last few years, my HPDE focus has faded. As a result, the car has seen very light use and has spent most of its time stored in my garage.
The car was originally purchased in New Jersey and is now located in Houston, Texas.
Condition & Known Needs
The car runs and drives well with no current issues, but it does need a few items addressed to be in optimal condition:
I’ve received a local quote of approximately $1,100 for this work. If the buyer prefers, the work can also be completed by the shop that has previously handled much of the car’s maintenance.
The car was purchased with the odometer not working, and was sold previously at the 86K mile mark. I estimate the car likely has 93-94K miles on it.
Major Maintenance & Upgrades (2022)
In 2022, the car underwent a significant refresh. The car has not been tracked since this work was completed. All in, the work cost a little over $8,000.
Since these upgrades, the car has remained in my garage and has been driven approximately 300–400 miles total.
Recent Maintenance
I can provide receipts and maintenance records upon request.

Condition & Known Needs
The car runs and drives well with no current issues, but it does need a few items addressed to be in optimal condition:
- Valve cover gasket
- Transmission fluid service
- Coolant hose replacement
- The front right fender is damaged from the previous owner. No reason to replace as it does not affect the drivability, but could be considered an eyesore.
