    WTB 1985 (or '87) e30 CT

    Greetings,

I have been lurking here for a while, I used to be over at bf.c but that was a long time ago. I really want to get an E30 coupe 5 speed. I wanted one for a while and got an E36 M3 'vert instead, for the reliability... I still want an e30, so here I am.

I live in CT but I'm willing to drive about 500 miles for an awesome car. I am willing to spend about $5,000 for a quality car.

I want an '85... I was born then. The condition of the paint (so long as it is not red) does not matter. Small dings would be okay, but I would like a solid and straight body. Interior should be pleasent. Tastefully modified is okay, as is stock. The car needs to be in complete working order, or as close to that as possible. I would prefer that the odometer was working... Ideally I would like the deal of the century, but I know the perfect car is hard to find.

Since I am now officially looking, with money ready, I figured I would start a thread. Thanks in advance everyone!

I have 85 Mtech 1 E30 in black with mint tan sport interior, crack free dash, i engine swapped in, 4:10 lsd, fresh powdercoated satin black euro bumpers, full Mtech 1 body kit and wing sans the side skirts but those are Zenders, no rust. It is a auto but a couple days work and 500 would take care of that. I am in the process of putting the bumpers back on after powder coat and finishing up installing new dash so car is semi apart right now But can be completed if interested. I would sell for a little under your budget if you are interested and I am in CT (Branford)

I'll think about it, but I want to see if a manual comes up.

I see you are hellbent on an 85, just want to let you know it's not the greatest year for these cars. Small axles, strut tubes, diffs, etc. Plus is last year before abs though.

Yeah, I need something old enough for antique insurance so I can just lump it in with my dad's collection...

Just checked out your site, it's good to know a shop like yours is around... I sort of fell out of BMW specific knowledge as my daily tdi took hold of my wallet...

I would take an 87 just to get into an E30, but I would probably drive it until I could find a good 85 trade...

So yeah, I would take an 87 if it made sense to me..

Is it really that simple to swap over to manual?

Not hard at all, there are write ups on it. Requires no real special modifications, just bolt in the parts and go. Most people sell full 5sp swaps for under 500.

Oh and what does it have for an engine? I'm not looking for a 318...
