After looking at the build thread, I am about 95% sure I owned this car a few owners back. I sold it in 2006 (still kicking myself) to some college student who couldn't even drive a manual - which likely had something to do with the original engine's demise. I still kick myself for selling it. I love what you've done with it. If I hadn't sunk so much money into my current E30 325is already, I would buy it back in a heartbeat.

I bought it from the 2nd owner - an older gentleman who took good care of it. As the story goes, the original owner babied it as well.

Are the last 5 digits of the VIN 05749? If so, it was once mine, and I miss it dearly!

It's neat how small the world can be sometimes.

Great to see the old car in good hands. I hope it winds up with a deserving owner.

Here's what I'm driving today when I'm not in my sportwagen TDI:

Beautiful car! And dhdenny's is awful purty as well :)

I'm in Austin myself, so I hope to catch sight of either of these soon...until I can afford one of my own

(and by "afford," I mean convince the wife that it's a NEED, not a WANT)
