Balticblau metallic (silver gray) with tan leather sport seats and interior. 5-speed manual. This coupe started life as a 325e (hence the badging), but previous owner installed M20B25 engine from an ’89 325i. Proper higher-rev tach also installed. Odometer (still working) at 327k; only 160k on the M20. Car showing age cosmetically but well-maintained mechanically. Still has plenty of life. A fun daily driver or ready-to-go track rat. $2150 OBO. VIN #WBAAB5400E9505896.

    Set-up
Includes Dinan chip, 3.91 LSD, E36 M3 short shift, E30 M3 bushings, Bilstein shocks & Eibach sport springs (front lower than rear), Suspension Techniques sway bars and upper strut tie bar, Korman motor mounts and ANSA free flow muffler. Also has stainless steel brake lines, slotted front rotors, oil cooler (behind license plate), K&N air filter, plus H1 & H4 headlight conversion and A/C converted to R134 (blows cool but not cold). Selling with Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3 185/64R14 winter tires on 5-spoke Borbet 14” wheels; excellent tread remaining. (Note: photos show my summer wheels, but the winter wheels look very similar.) Other installed items include rear deck wing, dead pedal, Schroth red 4-pt harnesses, sunroof wind deflector, Nakamichi single CD stereo, Palm Fibre Cocomats (fairly worn but OK), and a European analog clock in place of 13-button OBC. Also comes with 4 bottlecaps, average condition.

    History
First owner (New Jersey) 1984-93 did about 200k. Second owner (also NJ) 1993-96 did 47k, installed all mods and did some amount of body work to right front quarter and hood; also re-sprayed the entire car. I bought car in 1996; did 75k including many track days.

    Recent Work
All work completed by professional BMW mechanics in Seattle area. All records and receipts since 1993. Registration current; emissions not required.
    · Oct ’12 (at 327k): New (rebuilt) alternator
    · Mar ’12 (at 326k): New wiper relay; new power antennae
    · Dec ’11 (at 325k): Coolant change
    · Nov ’11 (at 325k): Oil and filter, new air filter
    · Sept ’10 (at 321k): Oil and filter
    · June ’10 (at 319k): New head bolts and gasket, cam shaft seal, new water pump and timing belt, coolant change, thermostat, new spark plugs, gaskets for intake and exhaust manifold and throttle body, oil and filter change, differential oil change, transmission oil change, brake fluid flush, new Interstate battery
    · May & Oct ’07 (at 318k): New fuel pumps (both); fuel relay; fuel filter and underhood fuel lines

    Regular Maintenance Items
    · Oil--Castrol 10W40 Hi Mileage
    · Brake fluid--OEM BMW, Ate Blue or Motul 600 during track years
    · Diff oil--Red Line 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Oil with Limited Slip Friction Modifier
    · Transmission oil--Redline MTL
    · Coolant--OEM BMW coolant
    · Power steering--Redline PSF
    · Belts--OEM BMW (Continental)
    · Spark plugs--only copper
    · Fuel additive—Redline, Techron and BG44K

    Mechanical Items
    · Right rear sway bar bracket weld is cracked. I didn’t want the clunking so had the sway bars links removed (sway bar still in place), but a re-weld is a basic fix for the new owner. Still, suspension and steering feels great.
    · From underneath you’ll see small oil seepage around gasket areas, not uncommon for this engine. Add Castrol (non-synthetic) every now and then. No oil drops or leaks on my parking spot.
    · Wipers work slowly, at best, and can get stuck. Probably needs a new wiper motor, but issue could be the linkage too.
    · There are a few very small rust holes in exhaust pipe just forward of the muffler. Not an imminent issue.
    · Sunroof goes back but pop-up function not working.

    Exterior Issues
These are all the ‘cosmetic’ exterior issues I could identify:
Softball size dent in right front valence (under bumper); smaller dent under left rear light; paint beginning to crack/bubble in right front quarter; chip in hood un-repaired (for new owner to view); roof paint fully faded with many small scratches; silver rain gutter trim missing on one side; front left headlight housing condensation; exterior side light out on driver’s side; third brake light (on rear wing) cracked off; front double-kidney grill is slightly loose.

    Interior Issues
These are the all the ‘cosmetic’ interior issues I could identify:
Temp gauge works fine but needle is sometimes temperamental; an SI board fix will cure the oil service, inspection and brake lining lights; driver’s side seat bolster leather is worn and cracked; driver's seat frame is broken or loose, but holds OK for now; dash has multiple small cracks, 2 major; some door panel clips missing; carpeting bubbling up in passenger’s foot area and some moisture on driver’s side near pedals; section of steering wheel leather gone; shift knob loose; hand brake plastic covering ripped at carpet; no glove box; under dash panel missing on driver’s side; front bezel panel somewhat loose; rear defrost partially working; some water gets into trunk on rainy days.

    Some Good Stuff
Engine pulls strong; no hesitation, no smoke, no other issues. No belt noises. Crisp steering; excellent turn-in. Throttle response and clutch engagement excellent for heel-toe. No problems with tranny or shifting. Brakes are excellent and no vibration. Strut towers excellent. No visible rust along fenders or rocker panels. Glass and rubber seals are very good. No cracks in taillights, headlights, fog lights, or side markers. Headliner is very good, one small hole. Power door locks and power windows work. Fans and temp controls all work. Radio good with new power antennae. Full spare tire is very good too.
