Well it didn't go so good, the exterior was as he said it was but the interior was falling out and he didn't take my offer, which was very close to asking so I couldn't make it happen.

that sucks man, these are the two cars at the bmw shop i can buy.
The red one is an auto but is ready to go. with some body dents but no rust. $500

The black one is a coupe and a stick but has been sitting a couple years, timing belt broke so the valves where bent. everything got re-done but needs to be put back together, along with the other problems that come from sitting 2 years. body is good. $500

What do you guys think?? Gof for the auto 4 door that runs? Or the coupe 5speed that needs work?
            (sorry to thread jack man)

Considering my budget, I would buy them both and swap the five speed into the running e30 and then part everything you don't use from the donor. I'd buy that auto cash right now haha

Do it man, you could probably build your own e30 for almost free after selling everything else off. I wish I could find running, rust free e30s in North Carolina for those prices, but unfortunately the bmw gods hate me.

Shipping from California is about 800 per car and that's a touch on the cheap side.

Yeah I've thought of this. But I've also heard that to register an out of state car in NC costs a lot more so I think I'm better off finding one in Nc

                            good luck.
This advice has transformed my search.. It's so obvious really! But thanks!

I presume you're still looking? I'm still on the fence about selling it, but if I do decide to let it go I've got an '85 318i 5-speed coupe, delphin(needs repainted), tan comfort interior in decent shape, good body with a bit of rust but not awful. It's got a starting issue that I haven't figured out yet(probably fuel related), and it needs an exhaust(i have most of one included.

Let me know if you're interested, and if you are you'll be the first to know if I decide to sell it.
