Don't beat yourself up too bad--the PO of my car was not entirely honest, either. Not to the degree you speak of, but I sure know that sick sort of feeling. I'm pretty sure my car was somehow totaled once and then had the title laundered in Minnesota because our state had lax laws regarding rebuilt cars, which I didn't know having not lived in this state that long. I don't think the damage was horrendous but it's still not something the PO explained and he had to have known it. There's always a cover story. You just get sick of dealing with crap like that and I should have known better from my past car buying experiences, but it always seems to find a different way to hit you. Fix it, move on. Best of luck!

I'll never buy another car site unseen....I purchased an E30 through pictures because it had "zero rust except" one small area....car arrives and I find rust all over the damn place....lesson learned.

If you don't mind, and you can PM if you want, did you end up paying $15k for it?

A car with this much work done is bound to have a few issues and kinks that you're not used to. I'd go over it with a fine toothed comb so you don't have any surprises while driving or while you're far away from home. Perhaps dial down the boost, replace the head gasket, get an exhaust and get a new tune.

bmwmaniac i paid nearly what he was asking for it. He said he was going to send a folder with the receipts i guess to prove what he's put in it.....i never received the folder. I also didn't receive the magazine. Which i thought was a good way to detract from the fact it had salvaged title if anyone ever asked. GThomas, thats exactly what I'm gonna do..if i have any questions ill touch back with you guys...

I'm not siding with anyone here but you don't know for certain what happened to the car in transit. But the fact that the previous owner is brushing you off is a little disconcerting!!

Sucks to buy a supposedly sorted car that doesn't come as described :(

I wonder if it is possible the delivery guy took it for a joy ride in transit. That's not beyond the realm of possibilities. If the seller was being honest than he is as surprised as you are, and taking the 5th would be his only logical response.

Regardless, is what it is and we are all routing for a quick and speedy recovery!

BTY, I really like how the valance has been modified to show the intercooler pipes. I am in the process of installing an turbo on my 91 318i and need to cut the valance to fit the intercooler in similar fashion. I think I will do the same thing since it probably allows more air flow and adds a raw look I like. Not sure that helped. One other thing, at that much boost I hope you realize the engine will always be on the edge of something... Dial that sucker down to below 9 if you don't have the stomach for dropping in a new engine.

The driver was a man in his 50's as i requested from the shipping company. He looked a little heavy set , grey haired and no nonsense kind of guy. Josh said that it took a while to load the car because they had to move all the other cars off the rig to put mine in the back. The dispatcher said the last thing these drivers want to do is be moving cars..its more work. Anyway ..i was hoping based on how he built the car if i could get away with 15-19 boost. Would i be ok ? First thing I'm gonna do is put the new gasket in....oem HG and then have a buddy of mine dial down the boost. If i dial down the boost will i have to get it retuned immediately ?

You shouldn't have to tune it when dialing boost down with MS.

Do I dial it down using the eboost controller or through Ms?

With the E Boost. Just dial it down, the MS won't ever read them upper part of the maps.

Don't get an MLS gasket if the block is o-ringed. Use an OEM BMW genuine gasket, they are about $100.

Hate to be selfish at a time line this, but would you mind telling me the dimension of your intercooler? Or, just let me know if it extends up past the bumper, or impacts the fan cage. Did he have to modify the original coolant fan?

                                Thanks!!
