The time has come to cut one of my E30's loose from the stable, and send her off to someone that will bring her back to glory. Up for sale is my wife's 1989 Delphin-Grey Metallic 325i auto, with black interior. The engine has 143k miles, and runs good and strong, and the car drives just fine. It's on very clean bottlecaps with brand-new condition 205 series BF-Goodrich tires. It has a lot of good points to it, but a lot of bad. This car is going to need a lot of work, suspension, minor engine, exterior and interior to bring it back up to snuff, but it would make a great project or even better track slut.
Suspension issues:
- Front control arm ball joints are shot. New control arms with less than 10k are included with the sale, as well as brand new control arm ball joints.
- Rear shock mounts need to be replaced, these are also included.
- Tie rod ends possibly need replacing.
- Front strut mounts possibly need replacing.
- Shocks most likely need to be replaced.
Engine issues:
- Tends to get hot, near overheating on long drives in hot weather. Possibly needs new water pump, included with sale.
- Leaks possibly oil and/or power steering fluid, unable to determine which.
- Muffler needs to be re-welded.
Exterior issues:
- Hood has 2 large but shallow dents near center, possibly from hood slamming down.
- Front valence is pushed in in center, could possibly be straightened or just replaced.
- Passenger side front fender is badly faded.
- Trunklid has large spot of peeling paint, possibly from bad respray.
- Small, sort of strange looking area of paint under passenger side taillight.
Interior issues:
- Driver's side seat leans to one side, possibly broken inside somewhere.
- Rear view mirror missing.
- Sunroof crank handle will not stay attached.
- Driver's side carpet is damaged from blown heater core valve, and coolant spilling down into carpet. Could either be steam cleaned or replaced.
I don't want to get rid of it, I just don't have the time/money to fix everything that's wrong with it. Also, it's a 2-door, and with having a new daughter, my wife needs something with 4-doors, and that's a little more utilitarian. I've got to sell this so we can get her something new, so please don't try and lowball this car away from me. I'm willing to accept offers, but I won't go any lower than $1k. Even if you were to part it out, you could make your money back and then some, there's a lot of nice parts on this car, and the engine is very good.
