I am selling a 325ix in a custom techno violet paint job (not available to E30’s). I purchased this car with the intent to use it in Colorado when I moved up (car is currently here in CO). The car runs and drives straight. It has a crisp paint job, but after receiving the car there were a number of issues discovered:
What I have done:
Good:
Bad:
Things that will come with the car:
Replacement plug for C191
2 new header heat shields
2 original heated seats
Clear Texas title
I already have other project cars and the intent of the purchase was for a turn key with no bodywork necessary. Due to the these issues and circumstances I am looking to remove this car from the fleet. Given this, I know I will be selling at a loss and am open to appropriate offers. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and I can provide detailed photos of any areas that you request. Note: the car is here in Denver for your inspection upon appointment.

- Rough and lopey idle
- Runs super rich (<10mpg)
- (Repairable) Body corrosion damage in a few spots, but nothing structural
- Clutch engagement / disengagement at the floorboard
- Refinished wheels where pitted and bubbling on the inside of the drums
- Hood spring not functional
- Anemic windshield washer pump
- A/C doesn’t blow cold
What I have done:
- New plugs (NGK)
- Smoke test w/ multiple vac lines replaced (not at a shop, should get a professional one done)
- Cleaned ICV
- New 80C thermostat (71C was in)
- New blue temp sensor (existing was broken)
- New slave (original on car failed within 100miles)
- New master (replaced during slave)
- Brake & clutch master / slave fluid flush
- Cleaned and spray tested 415 green top injectors
- Checked the C191 wiring loom (no visible corrosion)
- Cleaned and checked throttle body
- Checked TPS
- Re-tracked the AFM
- New fuel filter
- Checked fuel pressure
- Replaced the driver side lock and confirmed it auto-locks
Good:
- Engines pulls very well after the changes, no hesitation
- All electronics work (unknown on heated seats [never installed])
- Paint is in great shape with only a few spots not sprayed (in rain gutters)
- Shifts smoothly
- Temp now sits slightly above ΒΌ mark (nominal placement)
Bad:
- Occasional lopey idle
- A/C has a leak, PO says they filled it right before shipment, when I got it it was no longer pressurized
- Idles rich and drives rich (I have only put on about 200 miles) though this may correct after running for a while given changes made
- Needs a new windshield washer pump
- Leaky power steering fluid @ res. Needs a new res and a flush (common)
- MPG meter is stuck at max until after 4k, strongly confident this is the C191 plug. There was no corrosion (have pics) but I didn’t check in the lower boot behind the plug. I have a replacement plug (aftermarket waterproof)
- Needs transmission and engine bushings, they are definitely shot and have a bit of slop. Especially tranny since iX setups are a front / rear configuration.
- Despite master/slave replacement the clutch actuation is still at the floor. This indicates that the throwout bearing or pressure plate are shot and maybe the clutch.
- Rust (detailed pics upon request)
[**]Passenger side crash sensor rotted through to wheel well, slight creep towards hood mount. Sensor no longer attached except by electrical cable.
[**]Driver side square cup mount also incorrectly known as the ‘square jack point’ (located right where the body meets fender) is rotted completely out and barely on, you can put a finger to the carpet liner.
[**]Passenger side floor board has deep rust and rot in some locations. Partial rot lines towards the frame rail. Frame rail looks alright
[**]Rot damage at both ends of the trunk / body vent tube. This tube carries the positive electrical lead from the battery. Front side can see through to inside of trunk, backside hasn’t broken through, but is deep.
