As long as the shell is rust free, and the paint is presentable, we can discuss condition. Budget is up to $10k for a very nice car.

I guess I should. The pictures strongly suggest that the battery box is rusting out, which is why I hadn't.

They ALL rust out. (a little at least...)


My 89 spent its life garaged in a condo on Hilton Head Plantation, SC and STILL developed a golf ball sized hole in the battery box.


Your make or break criteria should focus on the AWD components and how well the car has been maintained.

I have a rusty iX in fantastic mechanical shape. I have the space and the ability to fix any mechanical issue.

What I do not want to deal with is a rusty shell. I care about rust and then paint condition. Anything else is just a price discussion.

So, yeah, my sense from the pictures was correct. Battery box rusting out. Also surface rust in various spots. Mileage on the shell doesn’t *really* matter, but it’s also a question mark.
