Anyone know about importing this to the US? Is it doable? Cost?

I bet you a phat lunch at the drive-thru of your choice that thing does not have one single page of federalized paper to its credit. Good luck making that happen at a reasonable cost.

I am wondering then how a buyer of my German imported Golf made it into Wisconsin and plated the car without any hassles 2 days after crossing the border. Yes, it is a Germany import but it technically is a Canadian car with a Canadian ownership.

Dude, there's visible rust. I would require detailed pictures of the underbody and other metal areas (trunk, etc) to have a better idea of how much rust is there to deal with.

Pay for the car... Get the title in the mail from the old owner... Use the title to get plates at DMV... Fly to Canada w/ plates and pick up car... Install US plates... Drive back across US border... Nothing to claim just visiting a friend... ;)

I did this when I picked up my E30 in Canada in April of this year.

I bought a 90 325is in canada last year. i wouldn't have been able to do that; i needed a release from the border saying i paid duty. also obv i needed the letter of compliance and the letter that its free of recalls from bmw canada.

btw americans; you can't register this car legally in the states without a registered importer.

for $5500 its a hell of a deal. get it over, clean it up, swap trannies.

I'm dumb enough to go through with it, but I'd like more info first. :p

It's sad to see such a beautiful car get chewed away by salt.

Sounds like a good price besides.
