    Rare Euro-spec. 1983 Hartge H23. $3800 (Walla Walla Washington)

Not affiliated. I received an email the following day and he (Peter) sent me these pics. I don't see it as a scam. Hope its not. Hope someone is able to give the car a good home.

I've emailed him twice, no answer. If its real than it has to be my buddy Eric's old car. I'm very curious.

Hello, yes her you go, like I said I would LOVE to keep it but just can't afford to store it. The car is a real Hartge H23 (oddly enough there is very little on the internet about these cars, mainly because there are so few of them and most of them are still in europe). The H23 pacage includes; 2.3l inline 6, that hartge modified (special head, cam, intake and exhaust) it makes 170hp(car is lighter than a standard E30, about 2400lbs), Hartge 11 spoke wheels(not on the car, they are very rare, and very hard to find, darnit I know, but it has some nice 6 spoke Borbets' that look very nice I think), Hartge tuned suspension(lowered, F and R stressbars), extra fuel cell(see in pics), rear trunk lip spoiler, F and R ground effects, Recaro seats(drivers need work), Momo stearing wheel, extra guage pod inside the car(outside temp, oil temp, oil pressure in 'bars'), 40% limited slip rear end, full headers and exhaust(I have seen these headers go on ebay USED for $700!). Now for the really sad part, some jerk hit the car when it was parked on the street(breifly) then took off, damaging then FT LF fender and door(small dent in the quaterpannel). I had the dammage estimated at just over $1800.00. I think it could be done much cheaper though. I have a door and fender that will be included with the car, so that will help. The door still opens fine, and the window works fine. Rember this car is 25 years old, so it has acouple of other issues like, sun roof need work(doen't leak), might need a throw-out bearing, and it has a stumbling issue that I'm not quite sure what is the problem. Could be the mass airflow meter, or throttle position switch, or somthing else. Still runs and drive good and has some power just not like it should, and handles fantastic! Like a go-kart!! Overall though its a complete car that has a ton of potential, it just needs a loving new home. Like I said these cars are very, very rare, you will get odd looks even from other diehard BMW owners. I have over $7000 of receipts from the previous owner. Most of the work was done at Auburn Foreign Car(previous owner lived in the Seattle area). Let me know what you think, or if you have any other questions, just ask, I will try and answer them. Thanks for looking.

              -peter

p.s I have just contacted Hartge to see if I can get documentation. will keep posted.

I take back what I said. That looks like a great car for the moeny, and super rare. Finding a door and fender is easy.

Yep. My friend Eric sold the car to the fellow in Bellingham. Too bad about all of the issues now. The car was actually at the E30 Picnic back in 2003 I believe. Eric brought it out briefly. Seems like a good deal still. I'd be on it but I have my eyes on something else.

Was this car in good shape at the time? Is this car even collectible? I'm not seeing many people jumping at the chance to own it.

this car was on ebay a few months back, in Seattleish area... The car IS a real hartge car.

I would say that it is not a scam. Though, I think the ebay had a buy-it-now of 3000?

I think the buy it now was closer to 8. The car was in good shape as far as I know, before it sold to this guy. When I talked to the previous owner it just needed a couple of little things. I still think its a good buy. You are never going to see another one.
