    FS: CA "Totalled" 1991 318is $1500 obo

I think it's finally time to get this car out of my driveway.

I bought it in September from Sumyungguy, but unfortunately hit a deer about a month later. You can read about the car before the accident here. Sumyungguy posted this in a thread of mine, and it gives a pretty good rundown of everything. You can read about the car after the accident here. Many people seem to think that the car is fixable for far less than the estimated $4250, but I just don't want to have to deal with it.

The car wasn't able to pass smog when I had it done shortly after buying, probably due to the intermittent idle problem.

Due to the lack of a smog certificate and the timing of the accident, there's been some DMV confusion. The car has no plates and would have to be fixed and re-registered by the new owner. Though the car mechanically is perfectly drivable, because of this it'll have to be towed away.

The tires are bald and will need to be replaced pretty much immediately. I wouldn't count on driving it more than a couple miles until that's done.

As for the rest, my links should pretty much cover it, but the interior is in excellent condition, it drives great except for the idle issue, and has been very well taken care of. The recaro seat seen in the last pic has been replaced with a spotless original tan vinyl sport seat.

Here are some pics after the accident:

    And before, compliments of Sumyungguy:

Nice car, but not to rain on your parade, but I doubt you'll be able to get more than $500 for how it sits. That is just my opinion on the matter.

thats unfortunate bro. Would be a great pick up for someone who could do their own body work. Car looks perfectly fine besides the nose.

                Sorry about your accident.

Did the airbag deploy? Whose name is the title in, yours or PO? Was their an insurance claim? Is the new title salvage? Under CA DMV law, the PO MUST provide you with a current smog certificate at the time of sale on a running driving car. This could take some unwinding.

Not trying to crap on your thread at all, just trying to see what needs to be done paperwork wise, to put this on the road.

If the car doesn't sell, just name a price for those seats.

The airbag did not deploy. There was an insurance claim, and i think it was going to be given a salvage title, but I don't really know if it ended up being titled in my name, due to the lack of a smog certificate. When I went to the DMV after dealing with insurance, the agent there indicated that the best way to deal with it was to get a junk receipt because I had yet to complete the transfer. She reassured me that a new owner would be able to register the car without any problems as long as they fixed it all up. I paid all the registration fees when I went in right after buying the car.

Don't worry about crapping on my thread -- I need to figure out the requisite paperwork as much as you do.

I want to sell it as a whole for now, but I'll let you know if I end up parting it out.

If you decide to part please let me know about the oil cooler delete panel(front bumper solid black piece that snaps into the openning) and the dash cover.

                              Thanks
