For years I had a steady supply of thick (38 mil) headlight film from XPel, but then they stopped selling the thick material and jacked up the price on the thin Paint Protection film (8-9 mil). This was all they offered, so I started looking around for another supplier who would:
1) Cut the film in circles to MY SPECIFICATION so they would fit exactly over both headlight sizes (E30 or 2002);
2) Sell a thick film that was likely to protect headlight glass against rock impact;
3) Offer the film in clear and yellow materials that do not interfere with light transmission.
It took a while, and after a bunch of back and forth with lamin-x, I am happy to say Mission Accomplished!
The film is more than Xpel was selling to me, so I had to raise prices a couple bucks, but at least now, I can get it again.
There are two thicknesses that I think will work well - 20 mil and a thinner 12 mil.
The thicker 20 mil comes clear only, the 12 mil clear or yellow.
I'm putting some on a pair of Marchal Amplilux 7 inch headlights today, which some of you may be familiar with. A fine headlight with Two reflectors and Two lamps per- one for high, one for low - that could both be on together, like a four headlight system. I ran these in my 2002 for for 34 years, and LOVED THEM.
Of course this is irrelevant to the E30 crowd, but hey- I love talking about lights!
