1991 318is fog light wiring

years ago i had a is that all i did was purchase the lights and switch and just plug in and it worked. The 318is I have now has no wiring harness from the lights to the switch. Did they remove it requiring the dealers to install the whole thing on later models? Looked high and low for at least a kit or something to no findings.

Is it possible the connectors are taped up? I have a late production 318is that did not come from the factory with fog lights, and the connectors for the interior switch and the foglights themselves were wrapped in black tape ready to go once I located them.

The factory wiring is sometimes tucked in the engine bay, behind the plastic headlight covers. I'd bet that the wiring is there since it would be frustrating to remove, and not problematic to leave in place if fogs were deleted.
