I have pulled the m50 from my 318i and done what old people do reinstalled the M42. I purchased the 318 already swapped while on a project in the S.F. bay last july. The swap was done by the previous owner and a build thread does not exisit on line but i have documents, a dyno results (209 HP at the wheels) with a date. The engine was refreshed, s52 cams and valve train installed and the swap completed. The PO claims to have 2 track days in 2018 on this engine and then due to having children it got parked. I trailerd the car home in November 2021 when the project wrapped up. Bought some 200 TW tires in january and completed one PCA AX at the Fontana speedway in late March. I got a flickering low oil light towards the end of my 10 Th. run with a 1/2 quart over full on the dip stick. I decided to drain the oil and I found some silver sludge. Had an oil Anaysis done by Speed Diagnostics See attached form AAA-2609.pdf. early bearing wear was the determination. The lower end will need crank and rod bearings. the crank should be checked/corrected at a minimum. selling a long block with some accessories, harness, engine mounts and mount bushings, intake, headers. ECU with Active Autowerks tune, this motor still pulled hard when i had it removed
