mason engineering steel front strut bar

    this piece of shit:

did not fit my m42 vert. since it's situated above an m42 in the above pic linked from mason's site, i assume that's because it's a vert. this is NOT mentioned on mason's site, and an email asking after a return went unanswered, so now it's my white elephant- maybe one of you coupe/sedan/M3 guys will have better luck with it than i did.

oh, before i forget: they didn't bother to primer this thing before it was painted (and i did say painted, NOT powder-coated as advertised on the site), and because of that the paint will chip/flake off if scratched by a fingernail or anything harder than that. whoever buys it will probably want to strip and repaint it.

$120 plus shipping to wherever in the lower 48. can meet somewhere reasonably close in the los angeles metro area.

has your car been hit? If your car isnt straight, they wont fit.

The photo above isnt a vert. you can tell because there is no brace on the outside edge of the shock tower.
How doesnt it fit? Does it bolt on and hit the motor? Does it not fit over the studs at all?

it is not a matter of a slight misalignment with one of the strut towers; it simply will not sit flat against the towers at all because it interferes with the firewall. it is off by a lot more than could be explained by accident repair. just another one of those things that is weird about the 'verts.

not sure how that's relevant to you, since you have an '87 coupe, but when i get a chance-

Hey dk Maybe we both can profit from this seeing that others do not care about the $ amount.

I'm interested also. 20171 shipping please.

Also, you can tell the car in the picture above isn't a vert because the battery isnt in the front.
I got a fender roller now! LMK if you need me to roll your fenders or want to rent the tool from me locally.

                  i own a vert
not interested in buying part right now, but interested in why it wont fit, what does it hit, I did not think the verts and sedans were that much different in that area,
I own a 91 318 vert and a 91 318 sedan, and I dont see that much difference in thta area

Very respectful you guys. Get to the back of the line where you belong. If I were the seller I would personally ignore you for that. Dam what is this world coming to.

I found that alot of the bars dont fit the vert very well.

One of the main reason is the chassis reinforce brace from the towers, it prevents the towers to flex inward. Therefore, unless it only its on two holes like the sparco, and even then you ahve to widen the holes.
