are these sturdy enough to hold a speaker without warping the pocket? have you tested them for sound quality yet? any rattles etc?Comment

Man these things are very sturdy and don't rattle at all because there are no loose parts on them to rattle. What I'm basically doing is attaching a mdf ring to the map pocket and then fiberglassing it in with some fabric in a form I find aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I have the original style I made in my car and they're great. I'm running an elemental designs e3.65 component setup and its far better than the oem setup.Comment

Guys, there is really no chance for rattles. If this guy has any chops with 'glass, likely there will be no issues ever with these. He also lives in a warm enough place to do fiberglass work pretty much year round... unlike the PNW.
This deal fits my beliefs perfectly: if looking to spend very little money, go stock...but a $150 set of components in these will KILL the stock setup, and whatever you do in these will have far better bass or midbass than the stock location ever could.
The issue with your leg covering the mid just might work to balance the acoustics of the E30, only time will tell on that.
If you are planning on not using a sub, running these "full range", well, good luck. It will be TONS better than the stock location, but will make basically nothing below about 60Hz...and then, you may start to get some rattles. Figure it like this: my doors rattle and I do not have speakers in them...Comment

What speakers would you recommend for this setup? I'm looking to fill in my low-mid range, which, as you noted, is lacking.Guys, there is really no chance for rattles.
