Before there were Thule and Yakima roof racks we used Quick and Easy brackets to make our roof racks. Buyers of these brackets would then visit their local lumber yard and buy some bolts and 2 by 4rs and make a very sturdy roof rack. No these racks never had locks so removing them when not in use was smart. Pictures of my brackets are available to pleasant PHONE CALLERS. Price for brackets is $54 shipped in USA lower 48 states.
