Ebay chip for 318i / 318is

Pro Formance chip from Ebay. 91 octane. Raised rev limiter. Smoother idle, noticeable gains after 4k. Had on my car for about 3-4 months. Nothing wrong with it at all, just ended up forking out for the Mark D.

I want one but I checked the ebay seller and it says "If you have a Euro spec car, the US spec chip will not work proper, because of all the smog equipment that is required in the USA. Also a Euro spec chip used in a North American spec car will give a CHECK ENGINE light"

I have a canadian car... Will my check engine come on?
