    FS: M20B25 pistons and rods

I have for sale a set of 6 pistons, 6 rods, 6 wrist pins and c-clips.
The set was givin to me with the purchase of the car, and I dont see the need to keep them around.

The pistons appear to be new, possibly assembled but never in a running motor.
    They measure ~84.09 mm

Unsure about the rods age and length. I assume they are stock B25 rods.

    Asking 900 for the set

Those arent new. You can see the piston skirt scoring in the photos. They look like they have been media blasted or shot peened.

Not to thread crap but you will not get anything near 900 for everything.

:) It was worth a try.

Not trying to pull one over on anyone, but I really was unsure of the pistons. If they are used, then they must be very low mileage. The scoring on the sides is minor and I see no signs of wear anywhere else. Thats why I assumed they assembled the motor but never started it. Either way, Ive still seen used, oily, dirty pistons/rods sell for 100.

My price is negotiable, and Ill consider most offers. Like I said, I have no real use for these right now.

They look new to the untrained eye but I can assure you they are definitely used. The scoring on the side of the piston does indicate that it does most likely have high mileage on them. If you look closely, you can see that there is or was horizontal machining marks on the pistons. The horizontal marks on the piston skirt is completely worn off. Ive pulled pistons from 200k+ miles engine and they can look practically new too if it was decently maintained.

What you have is just a set of used internals that have been hot tanked and media blasted. They would likely fetch 150.00 or so.

Pistons are from a 87 or older 325i block. In '88, BMW introduced the "improved weight" piston which, as you can imagine, is lighter than the older pistons. The pistons are easy to tell apart.

Old style piston - curved skirt (like the pistons in this thread)
New style piston - flat bottom skirt (will sit firmly on a table)

I hate to say this, but those pistons really aren't worth anything and I've recently thrown out 3 sets in favor of the new style pistons. The rods do have value, maybe $50 to the right buyer, as they can be rebuilt by any competent machine shops. The rods might be worth a bit more if you could verify the roundness of the big ends, but that requires specialized equipment. Otherwise, any informed buyer will assume they need rebuilt and consider this cost when purchasing.

Bottom line, it's obvious those pistons are well used and obsolete; recycle the pistons and sell the rods for $50 or so...

That's not true, I have seen long skirt pistons come from an 89 engine.
