I thought white-backed clusters were for early cars and 55L; blue-backed clusters were for late cars and 60L - assuming the gauges are original of course. Confirm/deny?

More importantly, why the hell would someone cut all the wires to the cluster instead of simply disconnecting the plugs? SMH

i work almost primarily with late model clusters, so i can't confirm that either way.
