Has anyone smacked one of these hard enough t do any damage to the armor yet? I'm interested in this, I just want to hear the cons and see some carnage.Originally posted by IRON-EYeah, you're definitely a vw

At 65 MPH when my E30 hit road debris on the highway (a steel cable, scrap steel chunks/ old car parts, etc.) the skid plate not only survived an impact head on with some larger steel pieces, it also effectively acted as a sled when my front right wheel lost the ability to roll and support the car. When I finally came to rest, this skid plate saved my M20/ steering rack from being the first thing under the hood to come into contact with the road. I have not taken any photos of the plate yet since I cannot remove anything until insurance settles and the appraisal process is done. Based off of this experience, and others, like the smaller impacts suffered since its installation, I have only the best things to say about the quality and the resilience of a Red46 skid plate. I don't even want to imagine what could have happened in this situation if I didn't have it to slide on after the point of impact. I highly recommend buying one.-Ryan

Ryan (RCM3) answered your question pretty good but this is quoted from Luke_M a few pages back.
So during this polar vortex deal I had my sump and probably oil pump saved by red's skid plates. Strong as hell. I bent it back with a hammer and all is well. Unfortunately my IS spoiler didn't make it. lol

Story behind the picture: I hit some black ice just as it froze over and got sideways at around 20mph. Crossed a few lanes and hit a curb nose first. It felt bad. Converted the front spoiler into a multi piece design and broke a rear wheel when I spun around. The skid plate survived though with just some nasty scratches and a decent bend.
Thanks Red46!Comment

I'm sold. Last question: how much clearance do you lose between pan and ground running this?Originally posted by IRON-EYeah, you're definitely a vw
