this is a 8.9" tread width and I have over an inch of clearance to the rear shock and another 1.5" to get near the flare.

Cutting and welding is second nature to me, used to do it for a living, I'm more concerned with coverage that I need and if I can manipulate the flare a little. I want to support the local community and DTM just seems shady. The fronts won't be that big. My track tires will be right at 25, the street tires I want to run are going to be slightly taller.

I built an jeep xj last winter, did full comp cuts on the fenders and rebuilt the inner fender wells in all four corners. I didn;t use flares either, on this I can cut and weld and even hide the areas with flares!

Why do you need tires so big?

To handle my hp.....please don;t take that as me being a kid that thinks his m20 has crazy balls. I'm doing a swap and my estimated numbers based on other builds will be peaking 500hp.

I'm not arguing with that, his car is sick, and if I wanted ka's car I would build it just like that. But I'm building my car, and I desire a different look for my car. I have gotten a lot of inspiration for ka's build!

I dont need any taller but I sure do need wider. I dont get traction until 3rd. at 500crank HP I would say 9" treadwidth tire is the minimum needed at back end.

Nice job!! still waiting on the painted finish..

Is their anyway you can card board box a diagram of where exactly to cut. It turns my stamach to have to cut the car. Specially when I dont trust myself when it comes to what you wrote "feel it out how much"

                    quick shitty example below:

honestly just mark the holes for the new flare and THEN just cut out the entire OEM flare and use it as your template

I would actually cut a bit further down by the door strip than I did, I didnt think I would need much more but now I want more rubber.

I plan on running 275/40/17 in the back, need to get the new suspension under it first and back on the ground.

"the lower "leg" near the door trim on each flare needs to be physically pulled to the shape of the arch after the other points have been attached."

Can you explain that part one more time? I read it and re read it and am still not sure what you mean.

I'll be ordering a rear set from you pretty soon...fronts will follow shortly after, but I need the rears more. Stock flares are eating away at my sidewalls!

it means that this lower section I drew on wont be aligned with the arch of the OEM flare without you physically pushing it there. its easy to do and I just noted that so people dont think there flare is messed up when in reality that's just how you install it, and as always test fit multiple times.
its not as drastic in real life this is just an example

Forgive me if I missed it, but what's the price on a front/rear set for early model/plastic bumper conversion?

Ah ok I gotcha. I had a brain fart and had no idea what you meant but it makes sense now.

Hopefully be able to order a rear set in a couple of weeks.
