Nothing more is needed in OPs kit for basic OBC funtionality.

You can get a 13-button OBC functioning with just the OBC and Harness really (as long as you have the appropriate coding plug).

The OBC signal stalk is for the added functionality of cycling through the OBC read outs by pressing the signal stalk. That is completely optional and is uneeded for basic OBC functionality such as displaying read-outs.

The last thing that you could add: the CODE function, requires the external "Black Box" CODE module; This has to be wired into the harness (because it shuts off fuel supply in the event a code is activated on the OBC), is located underneath the steering column, and is usually such a hassle, most people who do OBC retrofits opt out on this option. Not having the Code module does not effect the other readings in any way, and only effects the CODE function. I didn't do this on my last e30 when I did my retrofit and I didn't have any problem with it.


One question that could be asked that wasn't previously stated is this:
What car did this come out of? (because it will have a different coding plug dependent on if it came out of an e, es, 87 i, 88+ i, is, ix, or m3)

Jinormus, thanks for the bump and the explanation on the install! Everything to make 13 button work is included, the only feature that will not work is a CODE feature, that is it. Sorry everybody, I was too busy today to check the forum, but all PM's got responses.
