I doubt he has any clue about the second two (although you could potentially get approx mileage with the vin). I almost emailed him but without compression numbers it's only worth it to rebuild it.

Well in a perfect (and honest) world he would have the info from the guy he bought the engine from.

You'd be trusting the word of 2+ people you've never met. While it may run perfectly and have 210 +/- 2psi across all 6, it's simply too much of a risk IMO.

Hence the reason I said perfect (and honest) world, which this clearly isn't.

Even so, it amazes me how many people dump a motor in their cars w/o even doing the basic maintenance. This is a great deal even if it does need some rebuilding! (obviously it can still be just a heavy paperweight, still very worth some looking into)

Yeah, even at 1k its a decent deal. After a little negotiation you could have a good engine.
You could test it and it could be perfectly fine as is, or just rebuild it!

It depends what's $1,000 to you.
This is still a low price even if it needs a "rebuild".

Not only that but cash talks, guarantee you show up with cash in your pocket and he'll probably give it up for less. If im going anywhere to buy something that i could negotiate i always come with cash, when people see money in hand they tend to just take it.
