I'm wondering what tie rods are needed to make it work on our cars and how it compares to an e46m rack
I had this rack on my 88 for almost two years and really enjoyed it. You can use the e36 inner and outers together, or e30 inner and outer tie rods together. I ran both types over the time I had the rack without issue. No comment on it vs. the e46 M rack, but much, much better than the stock rack. GLWS!
Difference from what I have read is that it is progressive and not linear & the LTL is a little over 3. Not the 2.7 of the regular Z.
My don't quote me list:

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's a smog test type of thing. IIRC think it's against CA law to *sell* a dual outlet muffler as a replacement for a car that came from the factory with a single. But don't quote me on that.
I know theyre essentially the same rack (same part numbers), but isnt the M3/MZ3 rack slightly different than the non-M e36 rack? Quoting: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...ame-after-1995
"M3 racks had a restricted rack lock over the regular E36 for .2 less turns lock-to-lock... altering turning radius to deal with altered control arm geometry with increased caster."
Just trying to clear up anything for a prospective buyer. I wouldnt hesistate to install this rack in my e30, still a great steering upgrade either way.
