No markings on the kit. My e36 M3 has a CARB sticker on the shock tower for the Dinan mods on the car. I am curious as to what the blue sticker is on passenger shock tower in the pics of the original white car.

In 1991 I called Dinan for a price on stage II turbo kit for my e30 m3. Dinan quoted me $10,000 and not carb legal. The 325i Dinan turbo was not carb legal. I use to have Dinan catalogs. It never mentioned carb legal. It just would say off road racing Vehicles.
Well that's that. I am skeptical though if the original 20 dealer cars where sold without being able to pass CARB or legally be driven in CA (unless the buyers were all out of state). I can't imagine what CA'er would drop $40K on a car brand new back in '91 and not be able to legally drive it off the lot. There has to be something there for the 20 dealer cars. Either way... I highly doubt Dinan themselves could even tell you. Maybe Morgan Hill BMW, but it looks like they might have had their name changed, so who knows what info they still have.

I worked on a Dinan Turbo E30 back in 1991 or so, a referral from Rasmussen BMW (I did all their cars in those days). I can't remember at all what I did to it, but my standard setup was just that...could this be the one I did all those years ago?

GLWS, thats a beauty of a kit, shame about the car.

Hey Luke! This car did have an aftermarket stereo setup, but it was not like that. The speaker brands are popular for old school vintage speakers, but I can't recall the name. I actually ended up selling them to someone on the forums.

          Bump...

I will most likely throw this up on eBay next week, but I would much rather it go to an enthusiast here.

MAY consider some trades. Perhaps someone's second e30 of equal value? The way I see it, I can try to flip whatever I was traded to a larger market then this kit (easier to sell), and at the same time have this kit become a reality for someone that would love to have it. Just a thought.

I expressed sincere interest in this kit as I researched an M10 kit's authenticity a few months back. Right around the time you were considering selling it. I would love to see this thing at my place but just not in a position. This is a real piece of history for Dinan and the E30 chasis. I wish I could make an offer and hope this gets in the right hands.

A lot of emphasis on the MTech and Alpina and Hartge amd even some ACS....Dinan is a real dark horse. Folks at Dinan are nice to work with, in my experience, too.

Im not understanding the placement of the diverter valve. I am using the same one. Why would they place it so far from the throttle body?

I have built my system incredibly close this one minus the water/air cooler. From my understanding is that the diverter needs to be no more than 12 inches from the throttle body and then recirculated post AFM as it is already accounted for or metered. Are they just running a pipe from post intercooler back all the way to the intake?

                  Very very cool rare piece.

Ah yes I totally remember chatting with you. Did that M10 kit work out for you? Dark horse indeed. I have never had a bad experience with them or their products. Their form of tuning is to keep things functioning as oem as possible. This turbo kit really looks like it belongs in the engine bay. My e36 M3 has a Dinan stage 5 package on it, and there are just no issues. The car behaves like it came like that from the factory.

Thank you. So the black intake tube w/ the diverter valve connects to the intake side of the turbo, the other end of it to the AFM. The other end of the diverter valve then directly connects to that small pipe that is welded on the outlet side of the turbo (take a look at the pics and you'll see what I mean). Everything is kept right there, so there is nothing running closer to the TB. I can't speak to the theory behind that though.

The M10 Dinan had just too much fog about it. I had an idea to reach out again with a silly offer amd see what he said months after the fact. The car is a rust bucket; I do not have the skill to repair. The parts are on it are very convincing that it IS a Dinan build... now ya got me lusting again!
