I thought the super eta head used a 7 bearing cam which would already have the oil holes drilled

hmm...i guess you were right, i never really looked on the 88 528e vs the pre 88

they have the same holes drilled apparently but the springs and the cam are different

never paid attention to the 5 and 3 head
