APR 2021 OFFERING REFURBISHED BLAUPUNKT TRUNK AMPS
I currently have 9 refurbished OEM power amps available. I replace all major caps, all of the internal amp to connector board wires which fail due to brittle insulation, and power transistors when needed.
All major caps replaced with OEM grade parts
All power amp ICs tested and replaced where needed with the exact same automotive grade components
All wires between the main and connector boards are replaced. The insulation on the original wires turns hard and is extremely fragile.
Price is $175 WITH CORE. I only accept orders I can fill from stock. The core unit must be unmodified and corrosion free.
2 year no BS warranty.
NOTE ON TRUNK AMP MOUNTING HARDWARE: I *do not* include the mounting hardware for the trunk amp unless your core includes it. The trunk amp mounting bracket is NLA, so either strip it off your core amp and keep it, or send it to me and I will transfer it to your new refurbed amp for you.

In fact he hates the BT board with a passion, yelled at my customer for destroying his work with a BT abomination, hung up on them, and then after I called him to straighten him out on the BT stuff, he was a bit of a ______ over the phone and hung up on me too. But the dude knows what he is doing.
The other recommendation I can PASS ALONG WITH NO PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE OF THEIR WORK is Radio Man out of San Diego. Multiple customers have worked with them and had good feedback.
They seem to charge about $250 to repair a cassette radio. I cannot say whether the repairs are OEM quality or not.

Folks that have a 5907 or 5908 and just want to get them repaired should look for professional shops. There are two I can recommend.. you can reach me per contact info later in this post. Expect to be $350 or so for the repair work.
regarding Jay’s Canteloupe BT boards, I will be getting a new batch produced. I will let the folks that have contacted me know when they are available.
if someone qualified is interested in helping out with demand, reach out. Those who have dealt with me know this is a labor of love, not a business. If you’d rather not wait and want your work done professionally, see above regarding repairs. I will only recommend work I have personally inspected.

I've relocated to NC and switched primary job to NY since my last update. Things are starting to settle now so I can spend more time on this side gig / passion project.
1) Those of you that have continued posting all this time, I have kept track and will capture a public wait list based on when you updated the thread. Please note there are about 15 other offline contacts on this list as well
2) I should have my work bench and test equipment back up and running after July 4, at which time I have 3 remaining radios to service. ..
3) I still have a limited number of boards, but most of those are reserved for support purposes (warranty replacements, repairs)
and I have been discussing BT board sourcing and I hope to have some news there soon.
4) Goal is to have a pool of refurb radios available later this summer. I will contact each waiting list member in order an give them the option to swap their existing radio for a refurbed, BT ready unit.
OCT 2019 UPDATE - WILL BE OFFERING EXCHANGE & CORE PURCHASE ONLY, NO TAPE
I have a few remaining radios in backlog, but they should be cleared out by end October. As explained in post 48 I will be limiting the work I accept going forward, as follows:
1) I no longer accept individual radios for repair, only exchange, and only if I have a repaired unit available. If your radio has better cosmetics than the repaired unit I will transfer those parts to the repaired unit.
2) I will continue to accept cores for purchase.
3) i am focusing on BT units only.
4) Prices will go up unfortunately. It is what it is
5) I will post some self-service repair guides later in 2019.
This should address delays and order cancellations experienced summer 2019 while I went through a move and major day job transition.

Not so good news: Due to backlog and pricing issues, I have stopped accepting new work. All existing work will be honored as agreed to.
I've been pretty clear that I do this for the karma. Well... not so good on the karma front right now. I have setup a second bench in my other work location so I can work evenings during the week. Once the backlog clears out I will be rethinking approach, especially pricing.
