Well remove the wheel, install a lug or two, and screw them in until it keeps the disc from turning. That shall tell you if the problem is with the studs. If it is not the studs, or the rear shocks, could it be the rubber is touching the trailing arm.
It should be very easy to find the source of the problem anyhow...Leave a comment:

I finally got around to installing two 235 40 17 tires on two of my 17x8 flat face wheels to check clearance in the rear of the car. Installed with the factory lugs and when I tightened them, the wheels would not turn. I checked clearance at the suspension (BC Racing BR Coilovers) and around the brakes (factory size 87 325is). I have a stud kit ready to install, but I am wondering if anyone run into this problem using factory hardware. I think they might be contacting behind the rotor. Are the Apex wheels possibly thinner then factory wheels at the connection point?Leave a comment:

Ah ok. Same tires as I'm running then. Little rub but mine are spaced out due to the brakes. Hoping some camber plates will help.Leave a comment:

played it safe with 235s
Can probably run 245s square but I screwed up my valence a long time ago. Front inner fender tubs had to be modified because I was rubbing while turning.Last edited by robgoesvroom; 01-31-2017, 08:26 PM.Leave a comment:

Any plans to make the 17x8.5 in anthracite again? I've been holding off on doing suspension and brake upgrades until I know I can get these wheels.Leave a comment:

They are a great looking wheel but since when has apex built stance wheels?I wouldn't say that the concave wheels are a failure. They are great strong wheels and they look extremely good, but they only just don't offer the same clearance for BBKs. Perhaps wheels for a different crowd. Actually, in my opinion a flat faced 17x8.5 would have been awesome. But I guess that production constraints make it not possible.
But think about that : the e30 has been out of production for a quarter of a century, yet new wheels are still available. Count yourself lucky. ;-)
Kind of defeats the purpose of going to 17's if you cannot fit big tires and have them fit over big brakes.
I am very happy that apex made the flat faces again so now I have a spare set of wheels to mount some R-compounds..
Just would have been nice to have some 255's square fit my e30 under stock fenders. :)Leave a comment:

Concaves are defiantly a let down. I have to do some work to make mine fit with decent sized tires and a BBK. I do love the look though.
Lee is right new wheels for this vintage of car is a blessing.Leave a comment:

Haha that would be insane.
The kit I have now is fantastic.
Zero brake fade and very consistent braking.
I'm 100% with you.
The concave wheels are a huge failure of you ask me...
Bigger wheels that are harder to fit and can't even run the same size tire as the flat faced version..Leave a comment:
