Turbo manifold

I had an ebay mani and my HX35 so wouldn't come close to fitting. maybe with a spa manifold or something. *shrugs* its iffy -
I would opt for a top mount over a bottom mount. Everything is much easier.Leave a comment:

yeah the subframe might pose a problem with turbo clearance, but in my head it will work hahaLeave a comment:

You have a point! Only thing id be worried about is the subframe. Its in a WAY different spot than e36's as were all aware. I mean you use the e34 oil pan for a reason...
Either way, it would be cool to see what works and what doesnt.
And 300whp gets old fast. I know it "sounds" like a lot but it gets old quick. From the way everyone talks about 300whp i expected it to be amazing and roasting tires in 3rd gear all the time and i guess all i can say is i was let down. Im making about 350whp and 380wtq on a mustang and i was bored after the first two street pulls.
Now i have the boost bug and im trying to get into some bigger stuff...Leave a comment:

not sure if you can fit a gt40r in an e30 with a bottum mount with room to spare but it does support T4 flanges and a gt35r will fit(from what i gather), TCD does offer a custom engine mount arm so you can run intake piping. Also i dont really have aspirations to achieve 1000hp either haha. I'm only looking for around 300whp, so no need for a gigantic snail;)Leave a comment:

With what turbos? t3 super 60 or can you fit a gt35r in there (and still be able to route intake and charge piping)
I like my top mount. I can fit a gt40r...

Don't worry about the stress on the manifold. You only have to worry about that when using one out of thin-walled tubing, which either way, top or bottom, the turbo would have to be supported.Hmmm I dont see how it puts any more stress on the manifold than a top mount would, but i am new to turbos so i'll have to do some more research. I plan on going bottum mount when i eventually turbo my car(piecing parts together slowly). I emailed Todd at TCD and he says their bottum mount m50 manifolds will work in a e30. I just like the bottum mounts cause it's a cleaner look, kinda stealthyLeave a comment:

It's just harder to place it and make a down pipe. Theres no real reason not to. It's just harder.Leave a comment:

What about a rear top mount? I saw some pics of one on an e36 iirc and kinda liked how it moved the weight back. Not sure what that would do to the overall performance though as far as a longer charge pipe etc.Leave a comment:

Like mentioned, oil return is easier, downpipe routing is really not that hard, and there's a lot of space up top to fit everything. Also makes working on the damn thing easier as well.
I think it may be overall more cheaper to do a top mount, which is also one of the reasons I went that route myself.Leave a comment:

Oil return issues, I heard (read: take with a grain of salt) it puts more stress on the manifold. On my car, the turbo physically wouldn't fit bottom mount. I hit the frame and subframe. Holsets are huge thoLeave a comment:

OT: but how come more people dont do bottum mount manifolds? I think it would be easier to route the downpipe and lower the center of gravity IMOLeave a comment:

Thanks, it's a 57trim stage III wheel .63 turbine, only going to run 7psi. Haven't finished it yet so it will be awhile before it runs.Leave a comment:
