Just because it could be done with software doesn't mean that software exists that will work. So it's not "all" it would take. It would be a big deal.
M50s are a dime a dozen, just sell it and move on.
I have a weird question, obd2 m50b25?

I don't think the stock sw will run an m50.
Lots of minor differences.Leave a comment:

Thats good to know, it would all be done only if it was cost effective. If i could do it with the obd2 mani, ecu, and harness along with the sensors (all the take offs from the obd1 swap) than I would give it a try...Leave a comment:

it probably will run.. sure.. even with obd1 mani.
seems like the reason for bigger displacements (and obdII software) in obdII e36 cars is emissions related to maintain the same power output.Leave a comment:

well the obd1 ecu is gonna be used in the s52 so that wouldnt be possible. But your response is why I asked, i just want some opinions...Leave a comment:

Well, assuming you had an ECU from an m52b25 i wouldnt see any issues with it. Definitely wouldnt run it with the s52 ECU though. Also might need to do EWS delete on it... just seems like alot of money to spend instead of just sourcing the OBDI stuff again.Leave a comment:

funny you ask this, I was just thinking yesterday what would happen if I put my s52 intake mani on my brothers 94 325i...more torque, less hp? or less of both?Leave a comment:

I have a weird question, obd2 m50b25?
I have an s52 and an m50 long block. The s52 is gonna get the obd1 stuff.
My question is, can I get the m50 to run with the obd2 harness, ecu, manifold, and sensors? Just so I dont have to trash the m50 shortblock.
I know this is kind of a stupid question and its not a big deal to me, just had a friend say it was possible.
So do me a favor and save the dick head remarks. Thanks...Tags: None
