The pull in low gears is retarded and with the short shift kit I find myself skipping gears all day shifting from 1st to 5th and it just picks up and cruises 40 like wut. Want some more? 5th gear pull is incredible man. It's a hoot, enjoy!

    interesting insight.

to make a long story short: more than likely the car is going up for sale shortly after i get it back. i have a couple more things i need to add on to the car but for sale ads are inevitable at this point. if i do keep it i did plan on getting a shift kit and putting a different rear in the car.

update: seems as though the two PNs for the slave/TOB mixed with a new fork (done in the event there was some minute damage to it causing any shifting issues) got everything working correctly and shifting smoothly.

just a couple more things to button up and the car should be returned to me.

thank you guys for your insight/knowledge regarding the situation. it was tough hearing/receiving contradictory information saying what worked and didnt work in various threads. much appreciation to you all.

try a 6mt swap. LOL - THAT is a puzzle if you want to get it perfect... I have a 2010 turbo clutch bolted to my 1985 euro M20 with a 2006 6mt transmission.

If the slave is from any ZF, and the clutch is a new setup from any g260/ZF5 then it will work. Dave can send you in a box a proven matching clutch fork, TOB, clip, slave to go with your ZF5 if your local shop just cant get it right.

a S52 clutch is actually directly usable in a G420 6 speed also. and a M30/s38 5 or 6 speed. Friction disc just has to match the gearbox splines.

228/240mm clutch is the most common BMW item; historic range is from 1970's untill......now.

    e36 M3 slave p/n: 21521116360 (22.2mm bore)
    e36 328i slave p/n: 21521159045 (20.64mm bore)

The 328 slave will cause increased pedal effort but longer travel, thus the pedal should release higher up from the floor.

I've run 20 different crazy clutch/trans/fw setups as has wangan On here without any issues. Just have to make sure
You match certain things up right and keep
The stack up height the same

looks like the last of any suggestions or ideas have been exhausted as of the phone conversation i had today at the ass end of my work day. next step:

remove trans, install slave/TOB with the PNs on page #1 of this thread per suggestions, throw a new fork in there, and do the detents. if this doesnt solve the issues i swear im out of patience. should know by tuesday what happens.

It came down to the difference in travel/internal diameter between e36M and e36 328i slave cylinders. The 328i is 20.64mm ID and the m3 is 22.2mm ID, the smaller slave will increase pedal effort but also increase travel.

so the 328i slave will give you the release point right off the floor vs. the e36M slave giving you the halfway point release?

could definitely be worth looking into. my pedal is pretty stiff now but ive gotten used to it. the clutch can be kicked in and engaged again faster than the gears can be changed it seems. but it can get old sometimes in heavy traffic

another option would be to replace the e30 master with a e34 unit. seems to be larger diameter, ask your parts counter to compare in person?
some of the e36 masters look extremely similar to the e30 units also, there are a few varients. I want to run a larger master on my car so I can run a huge slave cylinder for easier effort overall with high pressure clutch.
