ooy! So i have been having these problems for quite some time.
The car is a e30 1989 touring and the engine is a s50b30 euro.
the idle keeps pending sometimes as far up as 3000rpm.
I got a feeling the engine is beeing flooded and that the ignition is very late.
The exhaust fumes smell very much like fuel and when i have been driving for a while the exhaust literally gets so hot my tailpipe turns blue and the asfalt mats inside the car starts to boil and give off smoke.
This problem with the hot exhaustpipe is mainly when i have been crusing at the lower rpms (4000rpm) at the highway for 20minutes or so. :hitler:
the fuel pressure is 3,0bar.
The engine coolant almost never goes up to 80+c. Usually it peaks at around 70c but very often even lower, even after 1hour of driving.
Sometimes the engine can perform quite poorly even in the higher revs but only momentarily, almost like the lambda sensors have been clogged or something.
When i roll up to a stoplight the engine usually dies, but that can be due to my aluminium flywheel and its very low weight/mass.
I can rev it all the way to 7500-8000rpm, only once or twice has it been limited to 6000rpm.
My exhaust values are very high, the HC was 7700. Then i went out and put the pedal to the metal on the road for 10minutes and after that the HC was momentarily lower.
I have replaced both lambda/oxygene sensors with new ones.
I have changed fuel pressure regulator and the air mass meter
I have also changed the ECU, cant remember if i also changed the VANOS ecu tho...
I have removed the idle-motor(?) and cleaned it. It wasnt clogged at all and its sucking so i guess its working.
I have searched for vacuum leaks a gazillion times.
What i have not tried yet:
I have yet to cut the cable behind the cluster and feed it directly into the ECU. (cant seem to find any reliable source on the internet telling me wich one it is and im not to good at reading wiring diagrams.)
Any tips and help is very much appreaciated. :)
Sorry for the poor english, its not my first language. :)
