There are 2 sensors packed into one in the obd2 version. They have different resistances so you will need the right pair of pins.Leave a comment:

You can't use the blue top m20 sensor as that sensor runs the m20 ecu.
You need the m50 blue top sensor to run the m50 ecu, and the brown top e30 sensor to run the e30 gauge.Leave a comment:

You need the blue top sensor for the ecu, and an e30 brown top sensor for the e30 gauges. Wherever you mount them, and however you wire them to get the signals to their proper locations makes no difference.Leave a comment:

There are two sensors. I had the same "block" that you did, but found it always read a little cooler than what the motor was. Markert swapped it out for one of his converted sensors (To run OBD-1 in an OBD-2 block) and it appears to be more accurate. Do that.Leave a comment:

The head should already have a sensor with a blue connector. That's the temp sensor for the DME. Also, if you remove the second sensor in the head (that has a black connector) you can thread your brown temp sender there so you get more accurate temp readings.Leave a comment:

coolant temp sens question
ive looked but have found no exact answer, i have a block to run the brown sensor between the throttle body coolant lines for the dash gauge... but do i need an extra sensor in the head to run to the DME? does the DME need a coolant temp signal to run?Tags: None
