Daily Driver s52 Sedan. The Silberbullet.

I have just traded my 1990 325i away for a 1990 318i with a blown head along with a wrecked 1998 m3 with 120k on a great running stock motor. I will be starting the swap at the start of next week. But first I thought I'd post some pictures of the sedan and a list of the parts to put in the mail soon (tonight or tomorrow).

I kept my wheels and adapter set up.

    The only body damage:

    I will be ordering:
    -e34 pan,dipstick and pick up
    -e28 motor mounts
    -e30 tranny mounts

and thats it for now. Stay tuned.

Motor mounts I plan to get are e28 535i mounts part # 11-81-1-132-793-M737
Tranny mounts I plan to get are e30 318i mounts part # 22-31-6-771-220-M270

Can anyone confirm these before I order?

EDIT: Anyone used either of these mounts with success? I plan to relocate my stock brake booster over half an inch if that is useful information.

coming from personal experience, I would not recommend using E28 mounts. you can make them work, they do not have the proper stud offset or mounting angle. I highly recommend going with AKG mounts. they are a bit more expensive but they will last waaaaaaay longer, they are properly designed specifically for the 24V swap into E30.

^^^^ this, Ive read a lot of people using them, but Ive seen a lot fail. I bought the AKG mounts & e21 mounts with the Al cups. I only want to do that stuff once.

Huh? I'm on E28 mounts and they've been great for the few years so far.

i use the green poly e28 mounts IE offers, but i think the angles off a bit :/ once i get some more money ill buy some AKG mounts and just see if it makes a difference

also to OP are you going to use the ZF from the m3? if so do you have a shifter setup? i have a UUC EVO 3 SSK with the DSSR and carrier. everything needed to give u an awesome SSK kit all in one piece. i also have a practically brand new rear shifter support thingy. pm me and we'll talk

UPDATE 5/12/13: I did not get as much done this weekend as I had hoped as I was kept busy swapping a 6mt into a WRX. I did how ever get the m42 fully disconnected from the car and began pulling it to realize I some how forgot the shift linkage, so I went under the car and took the long golden copper rod out and could not for the life of me figure out how to get the thicker silver rod the shift ball sits in off.

Does anyone have a picture or good explanation of how to remove the thick silver rod?

I got it! That clip sucks! I just did not want to break anything. I have decided that I will not be running A/C at first. I may put it in at a later time so I am going to just disconnect right up against the fire wall.

UPDATE: e34 oil pan, dip stick and pick up ordered. Motor mounts should show up today, picked up my donor car yesterday. Will be pulling the motor, tranny, harness, and ECU soon. What else should I keep from the car? It is completely totaled.

Will I need anything out of the engine bay related to fueling the car? I am retaining OBD2.

Fuel Pressure Regulator from the donor car, it's on the drivers side rail, and charcoal canister both will cause a CEL if missing on OBD2

Well I plan to have my ECU programmed to delete some of those things. I can delete the system that the charcoal canister belong to cant I?

UPDATE 5/14/13: I finally got my engine bay cleaned up, I pulled my brake booster out so I can modify my clevis and move my booster for clearance.

                              Pictures.

                              After.

Any tricks to getting that yellow stuff off? I tried a degreaser and some scuffing pads and burnt through to primer in a little spot.

And here is my radiator before and after pressure washer.

                              After.

And a shot of my skid plate from my previous e30.. I realized I am not a fan of stance and stretched tires on a daily driven vehicle. It gets kind of old.

Well hopefully I will have the s52 pulled and ready for the e34 pan by this weekend, as well a modified booster re installed.
