One of these:Stock late model M20 rad/overflow setup, good non plastic, non stamped impeller wp, 80C thermo, non leaking cooling system (IE, able to pressurize itself to ~.5-1bar) blue or green coolant (yes blue is better but green will NOT cause overheating)
youve got something routed wrong or your HG is blown or your used radiator is shit.
A. Used HG and engine is shit
B. Used radiator is shit
C. Something is attached 100% wrong
A simple leak down test costs less than throwing parts at it and will tell you;
A: is this used engine shit
B: what is wrong/how to fix.
I believe leak down tests scare most people on R3v just like how ebay turbo+ virtual dyno = total shit.Leave a comment:

It's a Manual switch so I know it's on.
Driving around today it was cold out side and it
Wasn't heating up as quick. Have a 2002 M coupe radaitor on order and will be in tomorrow.Leave a comment:

sound like your pusher fan isn't cooling it enough or you had the two coolant sensors switched. was it overheating from the beginning of the swap or did it happen after couple thousand mile?Leave a comment:

...I have a Pusher fan in the front...
got to ask...you mentioned fan in first post but nothing else. Is your elec fan still working ? themo switch good ? manual switch.Leave a comment:

Are you eating coolant at all? Smoking? Sounds like head gasket to me or you haven't evacuated all the air from the system.Leave a comment:

Only thing with the routing issue I could see is the hose for the over flow tank to head is kinda of long.Stock late model M20 rad/overflow setup, good non plastic, non stamped impeller wp, 80C thermo, non leaking cooling system (IE, able to pressurize itself to ~.5-1bar) blue or green coolant (yes blue is better but green will NOT cause overheating)

It slowly creeps up to 3/4 if I dont turn the heater on. If it starts to get to 3/4 I shut the motor off. That kind of temp scares me!
Im thinking of getting a 2002 M coupe radiator but I think Ill go buy 2 gallons of BMW coolant tomorrow.Leave a comment:

1/2 on the temp gauge is not overheating. Unless the needle is in the red, it isn't overheating.Leave a comment:

Have you leaked down the cylinders or had the cooling system pressurized to check for leaks?Leave a comment:

Use bmw coolant. an aluminum e36 radiator, ginormous pusher fan, z3 electric fan switch, and an oil cooler makes a huge difference too. Make sure you have a water pump with a metal impeller too!Leave a comment:
