Hey guys, so a couple months ago my head cracked. I got a new head, decked it, valve job, port job, etc. I bought a used performance package that's basically VAC Stage 4. Cams, springs, 3.5" MAF, Intake, tune, etc.
So the car seems to run fine but I have a 1211 CEL, DME Control Unit. The internet tells me that this is a check sum issue related to the code in the chip.
I contacted the previous owner and he said that swapping his 1992 325i cluster for a 1998 M3 cluster cured the 1211 CEL for him. I can't do this in my E30 so I am wondering, can I "fool" the DME into thinking the correct cluster is present? Or am I gonna need a new tune?
I swapped the chip into another 413 Red DME (the one I was running when the engine was stock) and I have the same issue so it's definitely the chip and not the DME.
