Did you even read the link?? That site is for M30 swaps and doesn't really provide anything new other than part #'s for the engine side C101 connector which can be found at realeom.com.

ok I was looking at some of the diagrams from here, one from the S50 to E30 M3 swap table (used the info on the colors for the S50 harness) and used the diagram from the C101 connector for the M20 that is on the first page of the thread. It appears that all the pins are in the right places.

find an etm and the instructions are in this thread. it takes some time, and most people who have done the swap have looked up the wiring for themselves. this way if you run into problems you have a much better understanding of how its supposed to work as opposed to someone just giving you pin charts that you're not even sure about.

That diagram couldn't be simpler, you read it correctly. It' just doesn't apply to your car.

Not really clear on how that diagram works? So the Engine Input Speed wire goes through plugs C103 -> C235 -> C104 to get to the ECU? My E30 is an 88... facelift so in theory if its the same as a USA one it wont have the C104.

If your is 87 then it is NOT in C104. Take a look at this - C104 pin 1:

late model cars with no c104 had the tach signal in the c101.

It really is worth it. Use some of that student loan money or pick up a part time job, you could have the $ to get one in a week.
