The euro 3.2 is very similar to the s54. Dual vanos, solid lifters, 320+ hp stock. It would take a serious budget to get a US S50 to the same power levels while staying NA, and it would be close to a full-race motor.
I think the ideal setup would be a low-mileage, stock internals S52 with the Eurosport twinscrew kit and a 6-spd. Think e39 m5 power delivery in a package ~1000lbs lighter.
Ahh, this is all very useful information. The only reason the euro s50 was chosen is becuase of the ITBs and power.
So are the m50b32 and the US s50 the same?
What method/engine is going to provide the most power output?
Thanks for all of the info guys.
maybe a built m50b32 (aka Us spec S50) would be a better choice, I know you would have alot easier time sourcing parts and if you build it right, you would be right at the same power level, minus the whole ITBS and euro factor.
ummm, no you won't, the M50(S50US) heads don't flow anywhere near the same as euro, but US S50 + eurosport twinscrew would be great option

Probably, but ive got my father backing me up on it. The story is basically that I told him I wanted to find a fresher m20 because mine is old, and then he wanted to look at all of the engine swap options, and is all for the s50.
Hes swapped more engines and built more cars than anyone Ive ever met, so it wont be completely uncharted territory.
But I do appreciate the warning. Ill inform the father.
