Don't waste $, ebay thing is good ----if you think about it, the gains you get with headers whether $$$ or not is very minimal

Look for the T304 SS made

Wow, there's a story of custom exhaust gone wrong. Not to monday-morning quarterback but I can't believe you paid him and left the shop with it in the first place. (I'm sure that's easier said than done.)

I am using the eBay OBD2 knock-offs with a an OBD-1 down-pipe/cat and UUC cat-back. I paid ~$250 to have an exhaust shop modify it to clear, and also create a custom merge to eliminate the 2" bottle neck in the OBD-1 merge/Y before the O2 sensor. They didn't do a very good job on the hangers, which I have replaced with some universal stuff.

All in all, there is no rubbing and it sounds very good. The UUC system U is a little loud for me taste, but the car is not a daily driver. I have seen some great, clean custom exhaust set ups (I'm sure Surebimmer will chime in) and I have seen some really bad ones, too. If you don't have a *good* exhaust shop to take it to try to stick to modifying the stock parts as much as possible - this is probably an easier job for mediocre exhaust places.

Well... During my s52 swap a friend recomended DSG to do my exhaust. I wanted a fully custom 3" SS exhaust with vbands and magnaflow mufflers(i supplied the mufflers). It was a very expensive exhaust that i wanted done perfectly and I was willing to pay for it( and did pay heavily for it). I trailored my car there since it wasnt ready to run yet and i gave alex very specific instructions of what i wanted He said it was a 2 week job. A month latter its ready. I go to pick it up again and the exhaust is about 1/8" from the ground in 3 seperate places. Undrivable. He even admitted that he broke one of the vbands pushing it out of the shop it was so low. I talked to him about it and we agreed that i would take the car and pay for it since i had brought the trailor and everything and took a day off to come get it, on a stipulation that when the car was driveable and if it did infact scrape the ground that he would fix it for no charge. There was plenty of room for improvement as the exhaust was over 3 inches from the bottom of the car and very poorly exicuted.

A month later the car was ready to roll. I take it for a first drive and i essentailly dragged it down my very flat newly paved road. I called Alex to tell him that it was too low like we had discussed and he flat out called me a liar and said that I had built an unsafe car that was lowered too much and that i needed to change my suspension and then hung up on me. He then called the family friend that had recomended him to me and called me an ungrateful "asshole". So after a lot of screaming and shouting he agreed to fix it if i paid for the new Stainless for new piping. I was pissed but at least it was getting fixed. Again i had to pay for a trailor rental to bring it back to him.

Almost 3 weeks later its "done" again... Its closer to the car now but rattels and makes a racket but it doesnt hit the ground. Oh yeah and he forgot to include one of the magnaflow mufflers on the second attempt so its overly loud now. He also ruined my set of obdII headers and lost about half of the brand new copper exhaust nuts and kicked a hole in the kneebolster under the dash then ripped it out tearing the screw holes. I recieved the car back absolutely filty and he actually swore at my mom when we picked up the car and it had a dead battery after he left the door open and we needed a jump to leave. I took the car to a local race shop that does most of my work and they actually laughed at the work done.

Dent Sport Garage has screwed up my car as I now have a $1700 paperweight of an exhaust that needs to be redone and was rusting after just 3 months... they have also screwed up my friends glantVR4 and have done some very questionable work that i have seen. BEWARE!

I am sorry to hijack the thred and I would not have made this public if they didnt treat me so poorly as a customer. I have pics of the poor work they did for anyone interested. Of all the places I have brought my car to they awere absolutely the worst.

Word, I just received my "ebay" headers. They look like decent quality for $150.
I also dont see why paying more is necessary.
I plan on wrapping them in black header wrap, and running a single 2.5" pipe through a high flow cat, a resonator and a 3 chamber, 2.5 in, dual 2 1/4 out muffler.

I'd like to see pics of everyones exhaust on their 24v swap.
    Post em.

Unless you're hell-bent on spending that kind of money, you could buy a set of the Ebay knockoffs...

They are about the same as the cast manifolds from a flow perspective, but they are lighter and better looking.
