So Im almost there (and it feels good)!
However a -the- new problem is an erratic idle.
Specs:
M52 ODBII (Siemens M41.1), everything standard, no airbox, M20 flywheel.
The motor was run a fair bit with no exhaust (headers only, dual lambda sensors right at the tip of the headers)
The first time I started the car it wouldn't idle, after some coaxing it now idles OK - still with no headers.
The car was driven four blocks to the exhaust place to have the rest of the system (standard E36 325i) fitted. With the system on, the car won't idle again, and is very (almost overly) sensitive to throttle inputs. The exhaust was not yet secured, so the car was not actually driven like this.
Question is what (suggestions) could be the source of the idle problem?
Running with no headers is obviously an issue, anyone have any experience with what this effects? Lambda sensor readings? Or just a back-pressure issue?
ICV? Seems to be functioning, is there a learning function for it? Could it be that running without headers, it has learned a bad setting, which now needs to be re-learnt with the exhaust re-installed? If so, how can this be reset?
Flywheel? Engine response is fantastic, but I have nothing to benchmark against, and seems a little exaggerated at the moment. I've heard going to the M20 flywheel has caused idle hunting problems for some, a friend just had the same done on his 328i and the thing idles perfect.
Well anyway, any help as always, would be appreciated.
Cheers!
