I have an 85 318 and im in process of swapping an OBD 2 m52. I've got the ews and all the wiring 95% understood (just starting, i like researching first), but one thing I haven't seen anything on, is how do we integrate the OBD II Data Link Connector into the harness and will it work with the early e30s that had no CELs? After skimming very briefly through etms, alls I can think of is that I need to get a hold of a DLC and run some wires to the appropriate pins of my m52 harness then try and set up a new light in my cluster. Does this sound correct? and anyone have functioning OBD II diagnostics that would like to chime in? Thanks,
