    Plug and Play Wiring Harness Adapters for S54, M54, M52TU, & More

    I am making plug and play wiring harness adapters for S54, S62, M54, M52TU, M62TU, M62 (9/97+), M42 (E36), M44, M50, S50, M52, and S52 engine swaps. These are to be used with the OEM ECU for your engine and allow seamless integration into your BMW. They are available for all models that have a main C101 or X20 connector including E30, E28, E36, E34, E32, and E31.

    I am the original creator and manufacturer of the plug and play S54, M54, and M52TU adapter harnesses. Others are copies and are commonly made using old corroded connectors and wire harvested from junkyard cars. My harnesses are built from new components, including new genuine BMW connectors*, and they are made using new metric wire that conforms to BMW's ISO 6722 specification that I personally import from Europe. I use the exact size wire specified by BMW for each connection and all of BMW's connectors and pins are specifically designed for metric sized wire. Others do not use the correct size wire, which could be dangerous for your vehicle. All of my harnesses are made by me in Oregon. Rest assured you are not getting a harness made in China or by an unknown person behind the scenes.

    Features for S54, S62, M54, M52TU, M62TU, M62 (9/97+) adapter harnesses:
    -Electronic accelerator pedal connector (excluding M52TU)
    -Coolant temperature sensor connector (for instrument cluster gauge)
    -Fuel pump relay wiring
    -Switch for sport mode (S54 & S62 only) (Upgrade option: Z4 Sport button)
    -OBD2 port for diagnostics (excluding 96+ USA models that already have an OBD2 port)
    -Oil temperature sensor connector (E30 M3 and Euro E36 M3 only)
    -Power for ABS from DME relay (1990+ E30s)
    -E34 M50 oil level sensor connector (M52TU and M54 only, for E30s & E28s with check control)
    -Splashproof fuse holders
    -Power adapter cable for B+ junction
    -Labeled connectors and detailed instructions
    -Optional: Secondary air injection pump connector and relay
    -Optional for E36: 20-pin diagnostic port for communication with body control modules (ABS, instrument cluster, etc)

    Features for M50, S50 (US + Euro), S52, M52, M42 (E36), & M44 adapter harnesses:
    -Round C101 and X20 main connectors
    -For models with check control: Wiring for E34 M50 oil level sensor
    -For M52 and S52: Coolant temperature sensor connector (for instrument cluster gauge)
    -Wiring for air conditioning input to ECU for proper engine idling with A/C on (instructions included on how to wire it)
    -Power for ABS (For 1990+ E30’s)
    -Optional: OBD2 port for M52 & S52
    -Optional: Wiring instructions for EWS II

    More information about S54, M54, and M52TU adapter harnesses:
    The adapter harness is intended to be used with an E46 engine harness. They can also be used with a Z3 engine harness if one connector is replaced with the E46 version (or two if the trans/O2 sensor Z3 section is also used) (full instructions are included). Let me know if you will be using an E39 harness as there are differences (two of the connectors are combined into one large single connector on the E39).

    I wire the S54 adapter harness for the North American fuel pump relay (black EKP-Modul) by default. Please let me know if you want it wired for the standard green relay (Euro spec). The North American relay is able to vary the pump output which reduces the amount of fuel circulating in the fuel pipes to reduce evaporative emissions. (Note that the US EPA allows the evaporative emissions system of the recipient vehicle to remain in the original configuration when performing an engine swap. It is therefore optional to upgrade it to the evaporative emissions system of the donor vehicle.)

    I do not make adapter harnesses for the MSS70 (Z4M) ECU. Please make sure your S54 ECU is MSS54 or MSS54HP. My M54 adapter harnesses are made for the MS43 ECU, but MS45 can be possible.

    I make adapter harnesses for left hand drive cars as default, so please let me know if your car is right hand drive. I design them for the ECU to be mounted at the glove box, but the ECU can be mounted on the driver's side as well. If you want to mount your ECU on the right side of the car (e.g. glove box on a LHD car) I recommend using a Z3 engine harness since it reaches farther than a E46 engine harness. That is only for the main engine harness. The transmission/oxygen sensor and ignition coil harnesses from an E46 are plenty long.

    The S62, M62TU, M62 (9/97+) adapter harnesses are to be used with an E39 engine harness.

    An ECU flash to disable EWS (immobilizer) is required for most of these engines to run in older BMWs such as E30 and E36. However, it is possible to wire in the EWS II or 3.D from an E36 or Z3 which does not require a K-bus. Let me know if you need instructions for that. I can disable EWS on MSS54, MSS54HP, MSS52, MS43, and MS41 ECUs. Note that for MS43 the entire ECU is rewritten to a stock configuration so any custom tuning will need to be performed again. I can also install factory tunes depending on the ECU and hardware version to change engine, transmission, etc. For example, if you are installing a Z3M cluster in an E36 I can flash the MSS54 (non HP) with Z3M software or I can install S52 M3 or Z3M software on a MS41.1 ECU. ECU flashes are free with a harness purchase and are available without a purchase if you provide a return shipping label depending if I have time. The people who figured out the code for these ECUs are against commercial use of the information which is available for free on the internet. So don't pay someone to flash these ECUs unless you are buying a performance tune from them. All options are listed here.

    I also have MS43 ECUs with EWS deleted for the M54 available for purchase (the price is for the ECU, not for the EWS delete which is free).

    I also offer an ECU bench flashing harness that allows you to easily flash your ECU yourself. I can make one for MS42, MS43, MSS54, & MSS52 and I can also make one for MS41. Like my other harnesses, it's made from all new components including new connectors from BMW. It includes a fuse for circuit protection and for MS43, MSS54, & MSS52 it also includes a grounding pin for boot mode (for full flash). Just connect it to a 12V power supply of your choice and an appropriate OBD2 USB cable attached to your computer.

    *All connectors are new except those that are no longer available from BMW, which includes the 84 & 85 E30 C101, 84-87 E30 C104, E28 C103, and 96-99 E36 X6031. I often have those connectors in stock, but not always. NLA connectors I have on hand are cleaned to be like new. Occasionally connectors from BMW will be on backorder from Germany which could delay your order. If I have a suitable used connector in stock I will use that instead.

    Harness price list (standard configuration):
    -$575 for S54 or S62 wiring adapter harness
    -$550 for M54, M62TU, or M62 (9/97+) wiring adapter harness
    -$525 for M52TU wiring adapter harness
    -$230 for M50, S50, M52, S52, M42 (E36), or M44 wiring adapter harness for E30 (add $50 for OBD2 port for M52, S52, & M44)
    -$100 for Bench Flashing Harness for MS42, MS43, MSS54, & MSS52 ECUs
    -$100 for Bench Flashing Harness for MS41 ECUs

    Options and add-ons:
    -$25 for Z3, E39, or E38 pedal potentiometer connector (standard harness comes with connector for electronic pedal and not older pedal with separate potentiometer)
    -$75 for factory Z4 Sport button (for S54 and S62)
    -$25 for Z4 Sport button wiring only (without switch) (for S54 and S62)
    -$50 for Secondary air injection pump connector and relay for S54, S62, M54, M52TU, & M62TU (Note that some engine harnesses already include the SAP connector and relay such as the Z3 M54. Check your harness to make sure you need this.)
    -$150 for E36 20-pin diagnostic port for S54, S62, M54, M52TU, & M62TU (Integrated with adapter harness if purchased together. If purchased separate, instructions included for DIY wiring.)
    -$120 for Fuel pump relay for North American S54 & S62 ECU (black EKP-Modul)
    -$20 for Fuel pump relay for M54, M52TU, M62TU, Euro S54, & Euro S62 ECU (standard green relay)
    -$35 for E36 dual coolant temp sensor for instrument cluster gauge
    -$35 for E30 coolant temp sensor for instrument cluster gauge
    -$45 for S14 and Euro S50b30 oil temperature sensor
    -$45 for Euro S50b32 oil temperature sensor

          I actually don't need a harness from you unless you'd like to have one adapted that will not reach your ECU mounting location. I can provide you with a new Z3 harness for $500. Slightly less for an E46 harness (I just found one for $279 although you can probably do better).

                    ^Yeah an all aluminum, shrick cammed, double vanos, m54 sounds like a better idea than a s50 for my vert.
