Weather got cold car won't crank

    Posting to the knowledge bank:

Recently I'd gotten the 325IX drivable and switched it's place with the Type1 in the garage. Ran fine.
Weather got cold, -12C ~ 10F and I went to try to start it and it would not crank. Got lights on the dash and interior lights. When going to the crank position the car electronics would seem to die. Dash lights go off, interior lights off, radio off. When shutting my driver side door, the interior lights would come back on. Several times after putting the key in the crank position, the radio would pulse on and off and you could hear the amp relay clicking on and off too. Turning the key to the off position did nothing in this instance, only closing the door.

My first thought was that a relay must have some grease in it that had gotten stiff with the cold and was not engaging and disengaging all the way. So I took the fuse cover off and tapped on all the relays with a screwdriver. No change.
I also plugged in my battery maintainer and left it for a few hours, No change.

Then I was preparing to check battery voltage, just to make sure somehow I didn't loose the battery and noticed that the terminals I could wiggle them. A little loose. After wiggling them I attempted to start the car and it fired right up.

So, knowledge learned, tighten the battery terminals down. A loose connection there can present as a partially dead battery and may only show up when temperature drops.

Anyways, it was weird symptoms so I thought I'd post up.
