I have a new project 88is coupe that has a problem with the drivers door that "pops" when opened and closed. The problem is not in the door itself or the check strap but is where the strap foes into the pillar area hidden by the fender. I am assuming that the sheet metal is cracked/broken but have not yet gone further.
Can someone who has done this type of welding repair post some pics of the repair or the problem area so I can visualize what i need to do before tearing into it. BTW I don't (yet) own a welder and so will need to have it done. What is the best type of welding to use in this area to make a solid repair? Maybe this is something I can tackle myself...thoughts?
